It was sad to hear of the passing of Curtis Pennington. Curtis was a strong supporter of our guitar show. He always had a big smile and a big laugh and loved to talk guitars, amps, and equipment.
Curtis “Curt” Lee Pennington, 72 of Catlettsburg, KY went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2025, at Hospice of Huntington surrounded by his loving family. Curt was born on September 8, 1952, in Ashland, KY.
He is the son of the late Mose Pennington and the late Barbara Nelson Pennington Williams. In addition to his parents, Curt is preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Nichols, Linda Reed, and a friend who was family, Bob Smith.
After graduating high school, Curt went on to get his certification as an electrician. He worked for National Mines in the late 1980s and then at AEP in Charleston for twenty-three years before retiring. Outside of work, Curt was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg and the bass player in its band. Every Wednesday, the band would visit local nursing homes and play for the residents.
Curt loved music and taught himself how to play many instruments after retirement. He also loved old cars and motorcycles. He was a member of the Greenup County Cruisers and went to many car shows. Anyone who knew Curt was treated to a smile and one of the best hugs when he saw them. His greatest joy was his family. Curt loved his wife and daughter beyond measure.
