πŸ›£οΈ Honoring Two Cathedral City Icons

At the regular City Council meeting on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the Mayor and City Council approved street sign toppers in honor of former Councilmember Sarah DiGrandi and longtime community leader Richard Altman.

Sarah served on the City Council and has witnessed and shaped decades of Cathedral City history β€” she celebrated her 90th birthday last August.

Richard β€” CCBC Resort owner, 2025 Chamber Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and a force behind the creation Cathedral City LGBT+ Days, Sunday Bed Races, and the Richard G. and Anne K. Altman Craft Corner at the Senior Center β€” has left an unmistakable mark on our community.

In a wonderful gesture of community generosity: former Councilmember Shelley Kaplan personally funded Richard’s topper, and Richard personally funded Sarah’s. πŸ’™

Stay tuned for dedication ceremony dates!

β€œHow can people change their minds about us if they don’t know who we are?”— Harvey Milk

Today on Harvey Milk Day, we honor the power of visibility, authenticity, and courage. Harvey Milk reminded us that change begins when we show up as ourselves β€” openly, proudly, and unapologetically.

Representation matters. Visibility matters. Being seen matters. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
