Castell Grind

Castell Grind Castell Grind is an iconic annual gravel cycling event set in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.

This original gravel (OG) ride offers three counterclockwise routes - the Full Grind (62 miles), Three-Quarter Grind (45 miles), and Half Grind (31 miles) The Castell Grind is comprised of three separate endurance gravel races, the Full Grind 100K 3/4 Grind 75K and Half Grind 50K. All races will begin in Castell following remote gravel roads through the rolling Texas Hill Country in the middle of

nowhere. You can expect amazing views, wildlife, cattle guards, minimal traffic, adventure and a gravel challenge worthy of bragging rights. The Full Grind will follow a figure 8 course intersecting through the center of Castell at the half way point. This will be a mandatory check point for all racers continuing on the 100K course. Racers may also use this as a refueling and support stop if they choose to. The Half Grind racers will complete the same north loop course as the Full Grind racers and finish their race in Castell. The Full Grind racers will complete the south loop returning to Castell and the finish line. Post race festivities will take place at the Castell General Store.

PHOTO LINK UPDATE & THANK YOU

Huge thank you to all our racers, volunteers, sponsors, spectators, and local supporters. Putting on the Castell Grind is no small feat. It takes a lot of time and the help of some incredible people to make it happen each year. We truly could not do it without such a strong support system.

A special shoutout to the racers for picking up after themselves. We saw a huge improvement. This was the cleanest course we have ever had. Hardly any trash and only a couple of bottles left behind. Let’s keep it up. Leave no trace.

You can find all 2026 race photos and results on our website:

Big thanks to Photographers Parker George and Amy Boyd. They absolutely knocked it out of the park. If you love your photos, feel free to leave your photographers a tip. They would really appreciate it.

Looking ahead:
2027 Castell Grind is scheduled for April 10, 2027
Registration opens November 1, 2026 at noon
Please follow us on FB and Insta for all the race updates.
Following helps us with sponsorship and recognition.

Thanks again for your continued support,

UPDATE 4/10 KEYESERVILLE IS BEING GRADED AS I TYPE THIS.

COURSE REPORT AS OF 4/9/26
Course looks fast this year. There as been some grading. Low sand and low washboards. Any rain will just make it better. Expect the all corners to be loose gravel so use extra caution.

MORE THINGS TO KNOW FOR THE CASTELL GRIND!
Cows don't care about the Castell Grind.
There seem to be more cows than previous years on the course and they are slow to move out of the way. DON'T HIT A COW!

PAY ATTENTION TO ANY CAUTION SIGNS ON THE COURSE!
They are there for a reason. The course is open to vehicle traffic. Cars will not stop for you. Stay in your lane, stay to the right. DON'T HIT A CAR!

SLOW DOWN IN TOWN IT IS A NEUTRAL SPEED ZONE!
The feed zone and downtown Castell are neutral speed zones.
DON'T HIT A SPECTATOR, VOLUNTEER OR PEDESTRIAN!

LEAVE NO TRACE!
Secure your water bottles. Each year we pick about 20 bottles from the course. Not cool. Get better cages if you're dropping bottles on this or any course. DON'T DROP YOUR BOTTLES!
