Where the Realm Meets the Veil.

Two people made something with their hands and gave it to the Court.
Ce is 14 and from Wyoming. She painted “Dragon Fury.” Fire, lightning, and a dark sky. She uses art to process the world and to bring people together. Cort built the striped dragon hook with the velvet bow and the pine. Small, handmade, and clearly made for this night.
You’ll see both on the auction table October 30 at Izaak Walton. Every dollar from the Court seeds the High Plains Renaissance Faire at Fort Caspar next August.
Thank you, Cort. Thank you, Ce. The room will know your work.

Hump Day History
Can you spot the hobby horse? This stained glass window from around sixteen twenty-one shows a full Morris dance side — dancers in bells, a fool, a pipe and tabor player, and a hobby horse — circling a maypole. Morris dancing was England's festival dance, tied to May Day and seasonal celebrations, and the hobby horse was its comic star. The window is now at the Victoria and Albert Museum. History you can dance to.

WHO IS ANUBIS?

He has watched over the dead since the age of the pharaohs.

Anubis, guardian of the dead and guide of souls, stands at the threshold between life and what lies beyond. In the ancient Egyptian tradition, he is the one who weighs the heart against the feather of truth.

At the Midnight Court of the High Plains, your soul may come before his judgment.

Will your heart prove worthy? 🖤
