Athletes,
The health and safety of athletes, volunteers and event organizers is a priority for Peak Racing, the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce, surrounding areas and our sponsors.
With the NC Governor’s Stay at Home Phase II restrictions extended to mid-September, we have made the difficult decision to not produce the 2020 Tour de Cashiers Mountain Cycling Experience & 5K Run.
We value our cyclists, runners and event volunteers and always make safety our number one priority. With the COVID-19 restrictions on business and leisure activities remaining in place, we cannot provide the on-road and event support necessary for the tour.
We do intend to ride and run again in the Fall of 2021 and continue this western North Carolina high-elevation ride tradition.
As a fellow athlete, full-time race director and small business owner, we are facing unprecedented times. However I strongly believe that if we continue to follow the guidance of health experts, we will rise above this current health crisis and next year will produce and enjoy the annual Tour de Cashiers and other recreational and competitive events.
We will keep you updated on the plans for an exciting future.
Thank you,
Tony Hammett and the TdC Crew
Ride / Run Director
