The team here at The Wild West Shootout joins the entire racing community in mourning the loss of a champion on track and in our hearts, Kyle "Rowdy" Busch. Kyle won the 2012 Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway and he could be found at or near a race track for himself or Brexton when not "Cup" racing as his love & passion for the sport far surpassed his Sunday paycheck. We are thinking about his wife Samantha, kids Brexton and Lennix, the entire Busch family as well as RCR and all those in racing that were blessed to cross paths with Kyle.

This week Thank you Thursday goes out to Don Frank Floors.

Don Frank Floors is a Flooring and Carpet Company in Clackamas, Oregon, but I really want to talk about the people behind Don Frank Floors. John & Tricia Duty are not only sponsors, but they are good friends. 20 years ago John, Tricia, Justin and Craig Cassell used to tow 15 hours each way every other week to race a Late Model Series I had called the Western Allstars. Did it make financial or time sense? Hell no! They did it because they believed in what we were building and wanted to support it. That meant a lot to me and I will never forget it. Now they believe in what we are doing with the Wild West Shootout and are supporting that. The Don Frank Floors Hayday Payday was all Johns idea. He wanted to give back to the fans and the racers, and that what we did. On the final Sunday the Hayday Payday pot had built up to $6,000 and a fan walked away with $3,000 as did the Sunday Main event winner Bobby Pierce, which brought his winnings for that one main event to $51,500! Imagine being a fan in the stands and winning $3,000 and getting your picture taken in victory lane! Pretty awesome! Thank you Don Frank Floors and thank you John & Tricia Duty!

This week's Thank you Thursday is to the longest running supporters I have had in my promoting career, Hoosier Tire West. Robert Perryman and Rick Gerhardt have been involved in every single west coast event I have ever promoted. They are great supporters of the Wild West Shootout and not only are they sponsors but they are friends. From the entire Wild West Shootout team, thank you to everyone at Hoosier Tire West.

We say all the time, events like this are not possible without sponsors and for sure that is true, but on occasion, some rise above others. And sometimes sponsorships develop into lifelong friendships that far exceed racing in January! Todays Thank You Thursday is none other than “Georgia” Greg Merry from Merry's Home Furnishing in Augusta, GA! His involvement does not end with sponsoring the Hot Pits, that is just a start! Greg also helps out when and where he can working and assisting the team, for the ENTIRE event. You’ve seen the craziness of Victory Lane right? Well, Greg is pivotal in making that happen behind the scenes, also with the assistance of his assistant, Chris Booher! You’ve seen all the flags (American and Sponsor) being carried by the cars right? Well, Greg (and Chris) are pivotal in the success of that. You’ve enjoyed Free Pizza Pizza on Thursday right? Well, that is quite possibly Greg's favorite part of the event and he can always be found in the pace truck picking up and passing out the pizzas! Speaking of the pace truck, it is rumored that he has been behind the wheel pacing a race when needed. If Pizza Day is not his favorite part what is it you ask? How about taking the team out for dinner on an off night to a (very nice) restaurant and picking up the tab for all? Why you ask? Because you probably won’t meet a better person than Greg Merry and here at The Wild West Shootout, we are blessed to have him on board with us!

This week’s Thank You Thursday is about loyalty, consistency, and the kind of support that stands the test of time.

Since the day I took ownership of the Wild West Shootout, Ronnie & Terri Stuckey and Stuckey Enterprises have been right there with us. Through the years, through the changes, through the growth — They have been constant supporters of this event.

Their longtime support says a lot in this sport and really in any business.

Ronnie has built his reputation through hard work and a deep understanding of dirt racing. Through Stuckey Enterprises and the Black Diamond chassis, he’s played a role in shaping cars and teams across the country. And now, with his partnership alongside Longhorn, it’s clear he continues to push forward and stay at the forefront of the sport.

Ronnie is someone I’ve always been able to lean on for advice on the racing business. He’s been a sounding board, a resource, and someone I trust — and that means a lot. Ronnie really "gets it"

We’re proud to have Stuckey Enterprises in our corner and incredibly thankful for their support since day one of our ownership.

This week’s Thank You Thursday is less about a company and more about the man behind it.

Mesilla Valley Transportation and Royal Jones have supported the Wild West Shootout for as long as the event has existed. But to us, Royal is much more than a sponsor.

He’s a friend, a mentor, and someone who has played a meaningful role in the growth of this event. Over the years, he’s been a financial supporter, a competitor on the track, a host of the event at Vado Speedway Park, and—most importantly—someone we can always rely on for advice and perspective.

For all of that and more, we extend our sincere thanks to Royal Jones and Mesilla Valley Transportation.

And if you ever get the chance, take a few minutes to learn more about Mesilla Valley Transportation—Ask ai and you’ll find some truly incredible facts about what they’ve built.

On todays Thank You Thursday, we thank LONG TIME event sponsor who helps showcase our nightly winners, Jeff and Penny Hoker of Hoker Trucking LLC. In addition to being event attendees, they sponsor the coolest Victory Lane in all of racing! We have (blank) guns, cowboys hats and the coolest trophies and swag, and none of it is possible without Jeff and Penny! Not to mention, they have the "Hanging with Hoker" area which is like a private party on the infield but they make the most of it and so do we! Trucking is not an easy industry but they work hard and play hard and continue to give back to racing near and far in relation to Dixon, Iowa. So when you need trucking needs, please consider Hoker Trucking LLC...
