SwimRunners,

We hope you are all safe and well.

The team wants to make sure you are aware of the most recent updates and changes with our SwimRun events.

Last Spring we postponed SwimRun Georgia to April 2021. With the moving target that is Covid-19, and some temporary local challenges, we have decided it's best to move this race to October 10th, 2021. Based on the last few years of inclement weather during the month of April (and specifically race weekend), we believe this is a more favorable race weekend.

This permit is still pending but this is the proposed date. We will advise once registration is open.

Beginning in 2021, Tony will be the co-Race Director for SwimRun Lake James in North Carolina too. This race is currently sold out but will be an option for you in 2022.

Lastly, the SwimRun Tennessee event as been deferred indefinitely and will not be produced in 2021 or 2022. New, stricter government regulations and procedures make it extremely difficult to produce this event safely and to our high standards.

For those registered for SwimRun Georgia, please check your email for options.

We appreciate your understanding and patience. Please do all possible to be safe and healthy.

We look forward to racing with you all soon.

Thank you,

SwimRun Georgia

SwimRunners,

This is one of the most challenging messages I've had to draft but we are in challenging times.

After discussions with the government entities involved and medical professionals over the last few days, they have asked us to postpone the SwimRun Georgia event for April 19th, 2020.

We want everyone to be safe and healthy.

The new race date is September 13, 2020. We are working on logistics but the Army Corp is recommending a slightly modified race for the Long Course. We've proposed having the Long Course teams do the Short Course twice. For Long Course teams, the total swim distance is about the same and teams will have two more "bonus" run miles.

Because September will most likely be warmer than our April race, it would be wetsuit OPTIONAL. Personal buoys would still be MANDATORY for all solo athletes and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for teams.

Here are your deferral options*:
=========================

- Move to our September 13, 2020 SwimRun Georgia race
- Race our 2020 SwimRun Tennessee event on October 4, 2020.
- Defer to our Spring 2021 SwimRun Georgia event (date TBD).

*Please let us know which event you prefer and we will work to make it as seamless as possible.

All registered athletes have been sent this via email too.

We appreciate your understanding and patience. Please do all possible to be safe and healthy. We look forward to racing with you all in the future.

This is SwimRun."

SwimRunners,

We want to update everyone on the status of the event.

Our team has been working with the DNR and Red Top Mountain State Park over the last few days. We have permission to race so we are planning on it.

Here are a couple of items we have modified:
====================================

- Per the park leaders, will start the long course first then the short course and solo athletes to create two smaller waves. (Planned start times of 8:30am and 8:35 am)
- Our volunteers who will be near food and beverage and at aid stations will wear non-latex gloves and serve you.
- At this time, the pre-race briefing will be held on race morning vs the afternoon prior. It will also be outside in the field and a bit shorter than normal.
- Please plan to arrive at the park no later than 7am, April 19th.

What has NOT changed at this time:
=============================

- The race courses and water safety
- The use of wetsuits, pull buoys, hand paddles, goggles and swim caps (We provide the caps thanks to our friends at Orca).
- Aid stations with water, Tailwind and HUMA energy gels (We will just hand it to you vs you grabbing from the tables)
- Solo athletes = you must bring and use a personal safety buoy for your entire race. No exceptions.

If we have any updates or if anything changes, we will let you know.

Thank you for registering to race with us! If you are on the fence, hop off and join us.

Look for more emails as we approach the event.
