Next up in our Meet the Committee series is Brittany Riskovich, Administrator at Royal View and another wonderful member of the team helping bring Light Up The Night to life!

Brittany loves being involved in the community, bringing people together, and supporting a great cause. So when the opportunity came to help plan an evening that does all three, she was excited to jump in!

💙 Why Light Up the Night?

For Brittany, it's all about community coming together to make a difference.

She loves that Light Up the Night gives people an opportunity to enjoy a fantastic evening while supporting local children and families through Angels of Action. She believes even the smallest acts of generosity can have a meaningful impact, and she's grateful to be part of a committee that puts so much heart into making it happen.

🥂 Behind the speakeasy door...

There's a whole lot more to Light Up the Night than what guests see when they arrive! From months of planning to countless little details, Brittany knows firsthand how much teamwork goes into creating a memorable evening.

And this year? She's especially excited about the fun surprises and interactive experiences planned throughout the night!

📸 One thing Brittany wants everyone to know? Come dressed to impress! With some fabulous photo opportunities planned for our 1920s speakeasy, you'll definitely want to look the part and capture a few memories along the way. Break out the fringe, feathers, fedoras, and all that Gatsby-era glam!

⚾ When she's not planning a gala...

You'll find Brittany spending time with her family, enjoying family trips, or sneaking in a round of golf whenever she can. She's also a HUGE Detroit sports fan, especially when it comes to cheering on the Tigers and Lions! 🏈

🎶 And something you might not know...

Brittany LOVES live music! Some of her favorite summer nights are spent outdoors at concerts, soaking up the music and making memories. Add in her love of cooking, golfing, sporting events, and traveling with family, and it's safe to say she knows how to make the most of her free time!

Light Up the Night is back, and this year we’re taking you straight into the glamour and excitement of a 1920s Speakeasy. 🤫✨

Picture a night filled with amazing food, specialty drinks, live entertainment, exciting auctions, and plenty of reasons to hit the dance floor, all with your favorite people by your side. 🎷💃

✨ MEET THE COMMITTEE: Shavon Jane ✨

Next up in our Meet the Committee series is Shavon Jane,Event Coordinator & Donor Relations Specialist at Angels of Action, and if there’s an event happening at Angels, there’s a pretty good chance Shavon has her hands in it! 😄

But Shavon’s story actually started as a volunteer for Angels of Action. She quickly fell in love with the organization, the people, and most importantly, the mission. Her love of events and bringing people together made Light Up the Night a pretty natural fit.

💙 Why Light Up the Night?

For Shavon, it’s about creating something fun that also has a much bigger purpose.

Kids are one of the things she’s most passionate about, and she believes every child deserves to have people in their corner. No child should have to worry about whether there will be enough food or whether their family can afford the things they need.

She loves knowing that the work Angels does, and the money raised through Light Up the Night, stays right here, helping children and families in our own community.

🥂 Behind the speakeasy door...

As one of the people heavily involved in planning the event, Shavon knows just how much happens before guests ever walk through those doors!

This year, she’s especially excited for everyone to experience the full 1920s speakeasy vibe. From the atmosphere and entertainment to all the little surprises planned throughout the evening, she wants guests to have an amazing night and leave knowing their fun had a purpose.

🏃‍♀️ When she’s not planning Light Up the Night...

Shavon stays just a little busy. In addition to her work at Angels, she’s a Realtor and serves on the Big Rapids Public Schools Board of Education.

And then there are her approximately 97 hobbies. 😂

Running. Pickleball. Golf. Hiking. Kayaking. Concerts. Pretty much anything that gets her outside and moving. And according to Shavon herself, she probably plays way too much pickleball.

From starting as a volunteer to now helping lead our events and build relationships with the people who support our mission, Shavon brings a whole lot of energy and heart to Angels, and we’re pretty lucky to have her helping make A Night at the Speakeasy one to remember. 💙
