🚴‍♂️ **UPSTATE NEW YORK: WHERE CYCLING IS MORE THAN A SPORT. IT'S A COMMUNITY.** 🚴‍♀️

There’s something special about cycling in Upstate New York.

Maybe it’s the quiet country roads, the rolling farmland, the covered bridges, the challenging climbs, or the spectacular scenery of the Adirondacks, Catskills, and Hudson Valley.

But what really makes this region extraordinary is **the cycling community itself.**

From weekend group rides and local cycling clubs to some of the most memorable organized cycling events in the Northeast, Upstate New York has built a cycling culture worth celebrating.

Events like **Battenkill, the Tour of the Catskills, and countless other road, gravel, mountain bike, and charity rides** bring together thousands of cyclists, volunteers, local businesses, and communities every year.

Each event has its own character, its own challenges, and its own traditions. But they all share something important: a passion for riding and an appreciation for the beautiful places we're fortunate enough to explore on two wheels.

At Battenkill, we're proud to be part of that tradition. Since 2005, we've welcomed riders to the historic roads around Cambridge, New York, helping showcase why this region deserves its reputation as one of America's great cycling destinations.

And in 2027, we're excited to take another step forward as **Battenkill returns to the UCI Americas Tour with an Elite Men's 1.2 professional road race on May 22**, bringing international cycling back to Cambridge.

But this isn't just about one event.

**When one cycling event succeeds, our entire cycling community benefits.** More visitors discover our towns. More businesses benefit. More riders find their next adventure. And more people discover the joy of cycling.

🙌 Here's to the event organizers, cycling clubs, volunteers, sponsors, local communities, and especially the riders who make Upstate New York such an incredible place to ride.

**Let's keep supporting each other's events and building something even bigger together.**

BATTENKILL: THE STORY CONTINUES. 🚴‍♂️🇺🇸

What began in 2005 as a grassroots bicycle race in Washington County, New York, grew into one of the most recognizable one-day cycling events in North America.

The Tour of the Battenkill became known for everything that made racing here different — narrow farm roads, covered bridges, relentless rolling terrain, and the dirt sectors that earned it a reputation as “America’s Queen of the Classics.”

From humble beginnings, Battenkill grew into a major Pro/Am event, attracting riders from across the United States and around the world. The race moved to the Village of Cambridge in 2009, and the Elite Men’s event reached the international stage as a UCI 1.2 race in 2010 and 2012.

After more than a decade of producing the event, the original organizers at Anthem Sports transferred the Tour of the Battenkill in late 2017. The event ultimately became part of Ventures Endurance and continued primarily as a gran fondo in the years that followed.

Then, in 2025, the story came full circle.

Anthem Sports returned to revive the event as simply BATTENKILL, bringing bicycle racing back home to the Village of Cambridge and once again putting the paved roads, dirt roads, farms, villages and covered bridges of Washington County at the center of the experience.

And now comes the next chapter.

🏆 In 2027, Battenkill is preparing to return to the UCI international calendar with an Elite Men’s UCI 1.2 road race.

For us, this is about much more than another bike race.

It is about restoring a piece of cycling history.

It is about bringing international-level racing back to Cambridge.

It is about the communities, volunteers, riders, sponsors and families who helped build Battenkill into what it became — and who are helping write its future.

More than 20 years after the first race, the roads are still here.

The dirt is still here.

The tradition is still here.

Battenkill is back. And the next chapter is just beginning.
