Fire + glass + chemistry + imagination. That’s Barbara Di Ulio of Stormy Originals in Manitowoc.

Her stunning jewelry and glass artwork begin with layers of dichroic glass—a material originally developed for the aerospace industry that shimmers, shifts, and changes color as it catches the light. Each piece is meticulously cut, layered, cold-worked, and kiln-fired using firing schedules she's developed through years of experimentation. Barbara often chemically etches designs directly into the glass coatings, creating textures, patterns, and effects that make every piece uniquely her own. The final results are vibrant, luminous works that seem to glow from within.

See this artist/scientist/innovator’s work in person at Midwest Fire Fest, June 13 & 14 in downtown Cambridge, and how beauty can emerge from fire.

Frogs, worms, snails, slugs and a whole lot of charm. That’s what Grace of Simply Lush Studio will bring to the Midwest Fire Fest party! Grace creates ceramic work inspired by nature, where science, conservation, and imagination come together in delightful ways. Her creations live somewhere between cottagecore and goblincore—equal parts realistic, whimsical, and wonderful! Best known for her beloved ceramic critters, Grace draws on her background in environmental science to celebrate the beauty of the small creatures and overlooked corners of nature that make our world so fascinating.

And she won't just be bringing her artwork to Midwest Fire Fest—she'll also have an interactive block printing station packed with stamps, textures, and creative possibilities. Stop by, make a print of your own, and experience a little hands-on artistic magic. Come meet Grace, explore her enchanting work, and create something memorable at Midwest Fire Fest, June 13 & 14 in beautiful downtown Cambridge.

Say hey to Julian Rohn-Capellaro of JRC Ceramics! This guy makes beautiful pots in Madison, primarily on the potters wheel, producing functional work that elevates everyday rituals. He plays with a tension, balancing between the elements he chooses to control, and the things he allows to happen randomly. His tightly thrown forms contrast with slip and glaze decorations that are done quickly to preserve a sense movement and spontaneity. Check him out at Midwest Fire Fest, June 13 and 14!

Neighbors helping neighbors. That’s what’s happening thanks to the fine folks at The Keystone Grill who offered to donate proceeds from their upcoming duck race to Ric Lamore; it’ll help him rebuild his kiln and shed after a devastating storm wrecked havoc on his property. There will be 50 (toy) ducks released into the Koshkonong Creek near Main Street , and they’ll battle it out in a sprint to the ducky finish line. For $5, you get a duck entry or for $25, you get a whole duck. Get over to the Keystone Grill to get ducking in support of Ric!
