Each October, hundreds of scarecrows line the streets of Cambria and San Simeon. People from all over the world visit our quaint little towns each year to see our amazing Scarecrows! It’s happening this weekend! Want to see a scarecrow created in real time? Then come to the Community Fair on May 23rd from 11- 2 at the Pinedorado Grounds (940 Main St), Cambria, CA!

We'll be there along with more than 30 nonprofit and government organizations that work every day to make Cambria better. And this year, some of our volunteers will be on hand making a scarecrow before your very eyes!

Plus there's food, activities, and Ballet Folklorico! It's a great way to see the incredible work these people and groups do and find out how you can be a part of what they do.

Every October, Cambria becomes a little more magical.

What started with just 30 scarecrows in 2009 has quietly grown into one of the Central Coast’s most beloved traditions, transforming Cambria into a month-long celebration of creativity, humor, artistry, and community spirit.

Our newest Hello Spotlight feature takes you behind the scenes of the Cambria Scarecrows, sharing the story of how it all began, what it takes to bring the festival to life each year, and why so many families return to Cambria every fall to experience it together.

This one was especially fun to write. The deeper we dug into the story, the more it became clear that the festival is about far more than scarecrows. It’s about a small town choosing joy, creativity, and community together.
