Here is Nick Hamburg’s backstory:

The Hamburg Strong: Nuts For Nick 5K is an event to help raise funds for Nick Hamburg who has incurred mounting medical bills due to a recent diagnosis of testicular cancer. Link in bio.

For Nick Hamburg, the past few years have been a crazy ride filled with wonderful highs and extreme lows. First, he and his beautiful wife (Maddie) were married last year. One year later, they became parents to a sweet little boy (Logan). During Maddie's pregnancy, Nick noticed swelling in his groin. Rather than get it checked out, Nick decided to focus on Maddie who was experiencing dangerous complications including gestational hypertension. Once Maddie had stabilized, it was learned that Logan had multiple health issues including intrauterine growth restriction. It took time for Logan to rebound and return to full health but once he did, Nick finally went to have his groin checked. It was then that this new father learned he had testicular cancer.

Following this life changing diagnosis, Nick has gone through several procedures and treatments to stop the spread of this disease including surgeries to remove the affected testicle and lymph nodes. He and Maddie are working with Indiana University, the leader in testicular cancer treatment and research to combat this deadly disease. Unfortunately, Nick's medical coverage does not fully cover his medical bills, therefore Nick’s family and friends have come together to support he and Maddie in their fight against cancer.
