How could anyone not want to represent a FULL MOON team in the Coffin Races!!

Hey, readers! We are looking for RUNNERS to represent our store in the Spooky City Coffin Races on Oct 31. We will decorate the coffin and help with costumes! We just need FOUR runners to compete. Let us know if you (or someone you know) wants to run!

37 years of planning Spooky City! It started while we were also part of Chocolate Fest… Shad was a key part, and I started and then ran the VIP tent for several years. So we had our spring community engagement and our fall all-in commitment with Spooky City. I was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom for much of that… and as you can see here, I loved designing costumes for Chloe and Sophie and all the creativity of Halloween.

In 2019 my focus turned to creating the Coffin Races ~ what a hoot that's been! I'm blown away every year by the drive and creativity of the coffin teams. They show up after so much designing and crafting, with obvious pride in their creations! Then I get to watch families stroll past the Wehmhoff 'cemetery' with equal amazement and plenty of chuckling. Some teams focus on theme and design, others are all about speed (most of those represent our high school sports teams). I love the mix! I walk away from that day grinning ear to ear for quite some time.

These events take so many people giving their time and ingenuity… thank you all. And thank you to the community that shows up to support it! Here's to 2026 ~ it's just a few short weeks away!

This charming photo came into our feed a couple of years ago- it looks like they were having fun near the Dia de los Mu***os stage in the Loop. The creativity shown in their costumes and the joy they seem to be experiencing is what makes this event so worth all the effort in bringing it to life. It has become a place for this kind of expression- for our community to share in the magic of this goofy holiday. We look forward to all of the creativity and joy you will bring to the 2026 Spooky City/Coffin Races/Dia de los Mu***os.

Sophie will be at the races again this year to welcome the teams and audience!

Kapur will be helping us with the Coffin Race game circle circumference, as they are deep into game creation- with a street construction theme, we will all feel right at home when they are set up!
