I have returned from vacation and was looking forward to proceeding with the June 3rd takeout offer, however, due to Burlington Jazz Festival, we will be postponing the weekly offer to June 10th. My daughter, who is visiting from school, has a performance at Flynn with her professor, Jason Moran, who is also this year's curator for the Jazz Fest. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I look forward to seeing you soon and wish you a wonderful June. Enjoy Burlington Jazz Festival!

The week began with students from Barnet visiting Clemmons Family Farm, where they learned about the farm’s history and its significance to Vermont, as well as its deeper importance to Black Americans and the African diaspora.
Back in Barnet, our work continues with an exploration of Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine, culture, and traditions. Students are getting hands-on in the kitchen—learning to prepare traditional dishes and make injera, the sourdough flatbread that is a staple in both countries.
Our first day in the kitchen was a success. The students were engaged, responsive, and curious throughout the process. When it came time to eat, they were excited to try what they had made—and many came back for seconds.

Clemmons Family Farm, one of Vermont's largest African-American-owned historic farms, preserves 138 acres as a critical educational prototype. The farm's mission emphasizes preserving African-American agricultural land, empowering Vermont artists, and creating a multicultural community focused on African-American history, arts, and culture. I was selected as one of four culinary artists to collaborate with the farm. Through this opportunity, I met numerous artists bearing the cultural heritage of the African diaspora and gained access to professional development and networking opportunities. On May 9th, the four participating chefs will showcase their culinary skills from 11:30am-1:30pm. You are cordially invited to join us at the farm to meet the chefs and your neighbors. Please use the link below to register, and we welcome you to attend.

Dear customers and followers, I was delighted to see you last Wednesday and hope you had a wonderful holiday meal with your loved ones. Your consistent support is greatly appreciated, as it motivates me to continue pursuing my passion for culinary arts, creating authentic dishes while accommodating the preferences of my Vermont friends. I always look forward to our Wednesday gatherings, and this week was particularly enjoyable, with stimulating conversations and a deeper understanding of the broader community impact of our discussions. I am grateful for your kind words and ongoing support. Please be advised that I will be unavailable for the next two weeks in April, as I will be traveling to Barnet, VT, to work with students in grades K-8 as part of an artist-in-residency program, exploring diverse cultures, traditions, and cuisines. I will resume dinner service on May 6th and look forward to seeing you upon my return, wishing you a pleasant Spring. 🙂

It is truly gratifying to witness individuals congregating at the CVU kitchen to acquire knowledge on preparing Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine. Notably, two students traveled from Woodstock, Vermont, a distance of an hour and a half, to participate in the class, which is genuinely heartwarming. The class is highly engaging, with participants working in groups of two to three, collaboratively creating delectable dishes. Upon completion, we gather to savor the fruits of their labor and engage in discussions on traditional etiquette, including the proper manner of consuming food from a communal platter with one's hands. I thoroughly enjoy my classes, and the participants' enthusiasm greatly contributes to their appeal. I trust that you had a pleasant experience, not only gaining new knowledge but also connecting with community members. I look forward to welcoming you in the Fall.
