The 2026 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival is produced by the Flynn and presented by Vermont Tire & Service with Nokian Tyres, and will take place from June 3-7. This year, from June 7-11, the Flynn celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, sponsored by the New England Federal Credit Union. At its core, the festival is about providing our entire community the oppor

tunity to share great music together. There are free shows all across Burlington, from Church Street to the Waterfront, and even a nightly jam session at Big Joe’s at the Vermont Comedy Club. Lakecia Benjamin, this year’s curator, leads the way by inviting some of the most exciting artists to perform, honoring the festival’s amazing legacy while looking forward to the next 40 years of jazz.

What a week! 🎷

The 2026 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival was something special from the very first note to the last!

The festival opened with The Beat Beneath Us — an electrifying collaboration between tap legend Savion Glover, MacArthur Fellow Jason Moran, and drummer Chris Dave.

Student bands also took the stage early in the week, bringing the next generation of jazz to life right here in Burlington.

Midweek, Jason Moran joined the Vermont Youth Orchestra for a breathtaking tribute to Duke Ellington, featuring South Burlington vocalist Rachel Ambaye performing “My Heart Sings.”

The Church Street and waterfront shows were packed all week. Friday brought Ruthie Foster and Tank and the Bangas. Saturday delivered Mavis Staples, The Eddie Palmieri Experience, and Preservation Hall Jazz Band — plus the one-of-a-kind Skate Jam! at Talent Skatepark, where Jason Moran and The Bandwagon provided the soundtrack while Skateboarding Hall of Fame inductee Ron Allen and the legendary Chuck Treece — who skated AND played guitar!

Sunday, Alicia Hall Moran brought Coldblooded, On Ice to Leddy Park Arena — a stunning fusion of live jazz and figure skating with audiences seated right on the ice.

Chris Potter and Julian Lage closed the festival with the world premiere of A Nation Listens — a powerful, history-confronting performance with an all-star ensemble. A closing night worthy of the whole week.

Another unforgettable night at the Burlington Waterfront 🌅🎶

Night two at the waterfront did not disappoint!

All the Rivers set a beautiful tone to open the evening, followed by The Eddie Palmieri Experience bringing the heat with Latin jazz energy that had everyone moving. Then Mavis Staples took the stage and delivered the kind of performance that stays with you — pure soul, pure spirit, pure power. And Preservation Hall Jazz Band closed out the night the only way they know how: with deep roots, big brass, and a joyful noise that echoed all the way across Lake Champlain 🎷✨

What a night at the Burlington Waterfront 🌅🎶

Yesterday's free waterfront performances at the 2026 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival were nothing short of spectacular.

Soul Porpoise feat. Paul Asbell & Dave Grippo opened the evening with infectious grooves, followed by the Lara Cwass Band bringing their signature sound to the lakeside stage.

Ruthie Foster took it to another level with a soulful, powerful set that had the whole crowd feeling every note.

Tank and the Bangas closed out the night with an explosive performance full of energy, creativity, and pure fun. Burlington showed up — and the waterfront delivered! 🎷✨
