Congratulations to graduating MFA Dance student Charity John on winning the People's Choice Award at the College of Arts and Sciences' 2026 Art of Research Competition. John will pursue a PhD in Theatre and Performance at Florida State University this fall.

UB Associate Teaching Professor Jenna Zavrel was recently featured in Dance Teacher Magazine with her article: “Teaching Dance Postpartum: Balancing Motherhood and a Career.”

As part of the piece, Zavrel interviewed five dance educators—including two from UB Theatre and Dance: Chanon Judson and Sam Campanile.

The University at Buffalo Theatre & Dance Department is casting for “Wolf Play” (Fall 2026) and is seeking one performer for a featured role!

✨ Role: Wolf (Jeenu)
• Open to any gender (he/him pronouns)
• Must be East Asian / East Asian American
• Character is a 6-year-old boy (played by a young adult actor)
• Heavy, dynamic role involving puppetry, physical storytelling, and direct audience address

📅 Dates: Aug 26 – Oct 4, 2026
(Some flexibility before Sept 13)

The annual Dance Senior Showcase provides graduating dance majors with a final opportunity to perform their own choreography for the community before their future professional endeavors in the arts. The program features more than a dozen graduating seniors who appear primarily in solo works, as well as in collaborative group pieces, as they take the UB stage a final time.

Founded in 1977, Dancers Workshop is crowd-pleasing annual showcase of works led by UB Dance majors and performed by undergraduates from across the university. The 48th installment of Dancers Workshop will boast a variety of dance styles in works choreographed and performed by UB's undergraduate student body. DW is a fun way to celebrate diverse talent at UB beyond the Department of Theatre and Dance and to commemorate the end of a successful year for all students.
