Dear members of our beloved community,
A press release, to various media outlets, with mistruths was sent out by the Elmwood Village Association (EVA) yesterday, stating that they were taking over management of The Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts (EAFA). That is not true. The EAFA and EVA are separate groups and always have been. The EVA is attempting to vision a new festival, with a new name, new footprint and new aesthetic. It is up to them to bring their spirit and intention to life, just as we worked tirelessly to do every year for twenty-three years. We wish for them only the best. For everything there is a season.

Dear Artists, Performers, Community Groups, Volunteers and Attendees,

We thank all of you for your engagement with the Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts that has made it such an enlivening event.

After twenty-four years of producing an all-volunteer, free community event, and after much deliberation, we have decided to cease producing the festival. All Artist Market application fees received for this year’s event will be refunded electronically. We regret to have started up the festival engine in 2023, only to stop it. We regret any extra work this has caused anyone.

We are grateful for the precious moments experienced, the relationships formed, the inspiration shared, the spirit of larger community gained. All of that is not ended or lost, but free to take other forms.

Thank you again to all of you who have generously shared your time, talents, and support with our community.

Leanne Darling
Leanne Darling creates her own unique solo viola compositions using the entire scope of her instrument, mixing more traditional sounds with electric sounding effects. Using a sampling/looping device, Darling generates layers of sound — from lyrical melodies to driving rhythms and textures.

Alex McArthur
Alex is a dynamic vocalist, singer/songwriter, & actress based in Buffalo, NY. Winner in the JazzBuffalo Poll for Female Jazz Vocalist of the Year in 2018 & 2021, she has led her own jazz & pop groups in Buffalo since 2016. Alex’s love for storytelling via musical means led her to study musical theatre & music at the University at Buffalo, while studying vocal jazz & improvisation independently, all aiding the creation & control of her rich, soulful sound. Since then, she remains open to the ways in which she can continue to share her love of music & storytelling with musicians & audiences alike of any & all backgrounds

Stephen Piotrowski
Not athletic enough to play sports and not pretty enough to model, Stephen Piotrowski turned to music at a young age. A self-taught piano player, he underscores his expressive vocals with subtle, yet memorable piano melodies that accentuate the honesty and rawness of his lyrics. A true story teller at heart, Stephen has a way of capturing the essence of the human condition, expressing his musical ideas in a tasteful and relatable fashion.

Cultural and Environmental Row
Western New York is rich in arts and cultural and environmental organizations that benefit our community. It is located on Elmwood at Lafayette. Over thirty non-profit cultural and environmental organizations will be on hand to share information about what they do to improve our quality of life in this region.

Performer Spotlight
MAEGAN is a R&B songstress from the Buffalo, NY area. She houses a majestic voice which has a thick, yet gorgeous tone. With the unique style of an Erykah Badu, and rich vibrato of a Lianna La Havas, Maegan is a fierce song-writer and producer who released her freshman EP, “Pretty Girl”, July 2021. “Eurydice”, her sophomore EP, was released May 2022.
