American Repertory Theater of WNY’s New Play Workshop Series kicks off the series season with Artie Award winning writer Mark Humphrey’s “Cain” featuring the talents of Buffalo veteran actor Monish Bhattacharyya - October 3rd at 6 pm. Admission is free.

ART/WNY’s New Play Workshop Series will add a unique twist to each of the stage readings with a free offering of food and beverage tastings matching the theme of each play (or not). Additionally each reading will be recorded for the company’s podcast The Voices of WNY Artists Podcast for future airing.

This promises not to be a typical herd in, sit, listen, Q & A then leave staged readings. Audience members can enjoy the experience beforehand then offer their take on the work via QR survey code throughout the reading (or afterwards hanging in the Tim White Lounge).

For over 19 seasons, ART/WNY is the home for developing new works by Buffalo playwrights. From page to stage, the company has produced over 50 one-acts & full works by local writers, and leading one Buffalo Artie member to remark if it wasn’t for ART/WNY, there wouldn’t be a category for new plays.

Join ART/WNY’s New Play Workshop Series this fall and see readings of works by Buffalo playwrights. No imports. No established outside writers to flash names. Just pure home-grown 716 creativity.

Free to the public with a special pre show food and beverage pairing as part of evening’s event.
