We are the Criswell family and had the honor of purchasing Cliff Spring Ranch from the Lange family last fall. We have been quietly learning the land and running weddings this past year and are so excited to finally be a part of Buffalo Gap full-time! While we are new to the area, we have deep family ties in Abilene and West Texas. The ranch will be our family home and we are excited to continue hosting select events out of the venue.

We feel the deepest sense of gratitude to Laura Lange for her dream of a beautiful wedding venue and are honored to continue the ranching tradition that the Deaver and Hedrick families began on the ranch, starting in the 1880s.

Watch for updated branding and a name change in the next several weeks. We are happy to be here and can't wait to celebrate with our future weddings and events!

4 years ago I somehow convinced my husband to let me chase a crazy dream! These photos are a time lapse of where it all began to where it has come to an end. 1) Our very first wedding show with the help of my cousin April. We didn’t even have a building at this point, just a vision and determination. 2-4) Our very first wedding with one of my former athletes who believed in my crazy vision. She booked with me when we could literally walk through where walls were going to be built. She trusted my vision and will to get things done. It was so special to have her and her family be our very first event. 5) our very last wedding with my cousin April who was there with me where it all began. We are even more thankful that our last event was with our family who has been by our side through this whole crazy process. Many have helped us with our DIY projects, when I said “how hard could it possibly be?”. 6) The last dance on this crazy dream! It has definitely been hard to make this dream come true but we were determined. We survived COVID and the countless setbacks that come with starting a new business. So if you look close you can see that the last dance was filled with a lot emotions as George Strait closed out an era for our family. 7) Which brings us to today, where we officially said goodbye to our dream, our ranch, and our family business. Letting go is definitely bittersweet and some days more bitter than sweet, but it is time for a new chapter in our life. We are excited for what the future will hold whatever that may be (if you have any crazy ideas let me know 😜)
We want to thank our community that has embraced our venue this past year. You guys have supported our family business even through COVID and we are so thankful for all our families that booked events with us. Our mission for Cliff Spring Ranch was to bring families together to celebrate life. We met some pretty awesome people along the way and celebrated with our close friends as well. Thank you to all of our contractors that had a hand in building this beautiful venue. Thank you to Britni McBride for finding the perfect couple for us turn over our dream to. We are excited for our new owners as they begin the same journey that we began 4 years ago. On to new crazy adventures!! -The Lange’s 💜
