Almost Heaven BBQ Bash

10/04/2026

First time events, of any kind, are always a challenge, but when you have the good fortune to work with some of the best in the industry, it makes it all worthwhile.

Thanks to some amazing LEGO artists, Vendors, Sponsors, Media Partners, and volunteers who made our first Almost Heaven LEGO Bash a great success last weekend at The Bridge Sports Complex in Bridgeport, WV.

We were blessed to partner with The Bridge Sports Complex ... what a wonderful multi-purpose venue. Big thanks to WV Radio, our long time media partner for their great event promotion, as well as WBOY and WDTV for wonderful tv coverage.

A huge thanks to our premiere event sponsor, Jenkins Ford (Buckhannon) and Jenkins Subaru (Bridgeport) - John Jenkins and his family are always great supporters in the community, and we appreciate their generosity.

Many would hesitate to join a new first year event, but we are grateful that several world-class LEGO Master Builders / Artists agreed to join us this year including Neil Bonness, Lia Chan, Manny Garcia, Krista Kay, Mark Lorah, Robert Ziccardi, and Chris Dunkle, and what amazing LEGO exhibits they displayed!!!

We're also grateful to the vendors who travelled from Delaware to Florida to bring their collectible LEGO items and other unique products with some one of a kind LEGO kits, specialty bricks and Mini Figures. Thanks to Beskar Bricks, Bricks Anywhere, A Family of Bricks, Let the Building Begin, and Appalachian Ordnance Works for joining our event to offer some hard to find items to attendees.

Thanks also to Cynthia Casto Harlow for her amazing face painting skills, and Gilbert's World of Wonder who made lots of smiles with his extreme balloon sculptures.

Also a big thanks to our board members (Jerry, Janet, Robbie, & Terry) and wonderful volunteers (Anita, Kay, Mary, Brenda, Lacey, John, Samantha, Charlie, Willie, Charles, & Bruce) for all their hard work

Most of all, thanks to ALL who attended this first of its kind event in West Virginia travelling from all over WV as well as GA, PA, MD, NC, TX, and CT, along with school groups from Upshur and Taylor Counties. We hope you had a great time and we'll be sharing plans for our 2027 Almost Heaven LEGO Bash soon!

Despite the "iffy" weather forecast, we appreciate everyone who came to last evening's Fish Fry, and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed preparing it!

Special thanks to those who prepped, cooked, served, cleaned up, and made things run smoothly including our BBQ Bash board members ... Jerry, Janet, Robbie, and Terry, and some great volunteers including Kay, Kim, Zack, John, Samantha, Anita, Lacey (and her daughter), and Willie

Thanks also to Robbie Martin for use of the Peak Pavilion at the BiCentennial Inn, Mama Roma's, Masterpiece Rentals, and Wal-Mart for helping make the event happen.

Most of all, thanks again to those who joined us for a great meal that helps provide start-up funds for next year's BBQ Bash!
