The Crooked River Gathering began when a group of loyal bluegrass aficionados and long time patrons of the retired Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival and the thriving Ossipee Valley Music Festival came together this spring to figure out where they were going to go on Labor Day weekend to pick, to sing, to laugh, and to be together in community. Where would they GATHER as they had done for so long?
The answer was waiting at the “crook” of the Ossipee River in Hiram, Maine in the woodlands adjacent to the Ossipee Fairgrounds. Together, folks are chipping in to create something new, something organic, something pretty chill and simple, something from the roots up. With a late start and the best of intentions we are giving it a go. Yesterday this beautiful piece was delivered to the new Crooked Stage. THIS is what it means to build a gathering from the ground up, while celebrating where it began. This is what it means to be part of the fun in year one.
Buy a ticket, donate to the stage fund, come to the work weekend August 16-17, volunteer, come help us create something we can grow together.
