PLEASE READ: Attention HangCon California Attendees!
The Forestry Department has implemented a limited burn ban for the campground.
The good news is that gas fire rings, stoves, etc. are allowed but no wood-burning devices. Please see the forestry website for more specific instructions if this is not clear.
We have three propane fire pits ready to go for our community fire area so we will not be without campfires (at least as far as the restrictions are implemented as of this moment).
We have spoken with the ranger to make sure we had a clear understanding of what was allowed.
The caveat to this is that if you want to use one of these devices you will need to get a California Campfire Permit. This is extremely easy to get. Use the link below to watch a two-minute video then take a short, simple quiz and one will be emailed to you. If you plan on using one of the devices it must be in compliance and you must have the printed form with you. You may be asked to present the document by either HangCon staff or the local ranger.
The ranger was very nice, and I think I established good will with him that it is important we retain so please adhere to these rules to ensure we can continue doing events like these. He said he did not believe the restrictions would be increased by next week, but anything can happen and we appreciate your patience in rolling with the punches.
This is the wording from the website:
“Persons with a valid California Campfire Permit may use a portable campfire ring/pit, stove, or lantern in an area at least five feet from any flammable materials provided that the portable campfire ring/pit, stove, or lantern only burns gas, kerosene, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel, with a shut-off valve.”
Please go to the site below and get your permit before the event.

I am looking forward to seeing you all! We have plenty of tickets left and there is still time to make it out for the hang. You won’t want to miss it!

HANGCON CALIFORNIA Hangers PLEASE READ!!!!
Just a Reminder....REMEMBER TO BRING...TOP 10 MUST HAVES…
1. Hammock: well duh! Also, make sure that suspension is there too…ALSO...if you are planning on hanging from trees bring LONG STRAPS, the trees are BIG.
2. Tarp: If not for the rain, the sun protections and to guard your gear from bird p**p.
3. Quilts (topquilt and underquilt): as a general rule I suggest a 40 degree set.
4. Wet wipes: We don't have showers but a quick wipe down is always nice.
5. Something to drink: while we do provide food and occasional coffee and hot water, drinks are on you. Bring your own beverage to enjoy with meals etc.
6. Mess Kit: You will need your own dishes/utensils for meals that you can wash afterwards. We want to limit trash.
7. Chair: seating can be limited at times (especially the raffle and campfire) you will want something where you can rest your bum.
8.. Stand: As this event grows prime hang spaces get harder and harder to come by. If you want the best possible place near the action, bring a stand if ya got one. You will thank me later.
9. A Super Positive Attitude: No one gets paid to do this. It is all run by volunteers, even Pheonix and Addam are essentially volunteers. Be thankful, be flexible, be friendly, and be helpful. Everything never runs perfectly and there WILL BE HICCUPS (parking issues, dinner delays, wait times, a hang spot farther from things than you wanted…etc). But our community is great and we want to continue to make this event wonderful for all.
