Global Conference on Human Resources In Africa - GCHRA Inspiring + Empowering Africa's Workforce About GCHRA

The GCHRA was founded with a vision to connect Africa with global trends shaping the future of work.

Our mission is to bring together forward-thinking HR professionals, business leaders, and technology innovators to empower and elevate Africa’s workforce. The inaugural conference saw participation from nearly 400 global attendees primarily senior and executive-level HR leaders representing over 10 industries– spanning oil and gas, mining, technology, telecom, finance, education, real estate, and public sectors. With delegates from over 15 countries, including Tanzania, Qatar, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Japan, and the U.S., GCHRA has become a crucial platform for fostering collaboration and thought leadership. This year's theme, “Leveraging Technology to Enhance Workforce Productivity and Optimize Efficiency,” highlights the intersection of technology and HR practices, offering a deep dive into strategies for maximizing productivity and shaping the future of work across Africa and beyond.

If Day One opened the questions, Day Two pushed us towards what comes next.

Jeffery Mac Boham began with the relationship between education, leadership and the future of work. Michael D’Ambrose followed with Africa’s Moment, challenging us to think seriously about what it will take to build one of the world’s most competitive workforces right here on the continent.

From Achal Khanna and Ebow exploring the intersection of technology and human capital, to Deon de Swardt examining Employee Experience and AI, the conversation kept returning to the same truth: transformation is ultimately about people.

G. Ayorkor Korsah and Melody Mukhwana took us deeper into what AI means for HR, while Seamus Clancy challenged us to imagine a skills-first African workforce. Regional HR leaders also came together to discuss collaboration across the continent, alongside practical Innovation Labs from Jobberman, Sifa, Microsoft, Deel Local Payroll powered by PaySpace and PwC.

Then came one final announcement. GCHRA27. Kigali, Rwanda. Two main conference days had come to an end. But the GCHRA26 experience was far from over.

GCHRA26 began with a big question: What will it take to unlock Africa’s human capital potential for the future ahead?

From Hon. Abdul Pelpuo setting the tone around jobs, technology and skills, to Achal Khanna reaffirming SHRM’s commitment to Africa, Day One quickly moved into the conversations that brought us all to Accra. Dr. Francis Eduku challenged us to think about human capital and AI as drivers of Africa’s economic transformation.

Shiv Shivakumar looked beyond the continent to lessons from India’s journey as a global talent powerhouse. And through conversations led by Rita K**i, Dr. Yvonne Lamptey, Michael D’Ambrose, Rosie Ebe Arthur, Esi Mmirba Wilson and others, we explored psychological safety, leadership, the boardroom’s role in talent and what it will really take to align business, education, technology and people.

There was also plenty to experience beyond the main conversations, from Innovation Labs with MTN, PeopleSource and LinkedIn to the connections happening over coffee, lunch and networking. And we closed Day One with the Fishbowl, opening the room for an unfiltered conversation about the future of HR, talent and work in Africa.

One day in, the questions were getting bigger. And so was the conversation.
