The Ceres Food Film Festival (CFFF, formerly known as Faces of Hunger) is an annual event dedicated to exploring the complexity of food systems worldwide.

The Ceres Food Film Festival is a global platform that promotes food sustainability by driving awareness and engagement, culminating in an annual film festival. We are building a global community of storytellers that values and champions a sustainable, integrative, and curious approach to our shared food ecosystem. CFFF was created by Palms for Life Fund, a NYC-based non-profit that works globally with organizations on the ground to provide access to food, water, education, and sanitation. We have set up mobile libraries for underserved children in Ecuador, brought literacy to women farmers in Burkina Faso, and built toilets in Nicaragua to improve school sanitation. We had such an incredible night at .One last night, and it was all thanks to the wonderful people who showed up for an evening inspired by a tomato. 🍅 Who would have thought a tomato could bring so many people together?

We were so grateful for the delightful food from Local Roots NYC | farm to table experiences, alongside delicious drinks and mocktails from Joe McDowell of Acid Spirits. Our wonderful panel conversation with Wen-Jay | food founder and Joe, moderated by Jerusha K, opened up a thoughtful discussion around the many facets of food that we don’t always consider when sitting down to a meal.

And, of course, the films made the evening complete: Amoris Pomum by Felipe Sanguinetti, A Failure of the Imagination by Matt Hopkins, and Fragmentos de Mar by Wolf Lass.

A perfect gathering of food lovers, enthusiasts, and food activists from across New York City. Thank you for being part of it. ❤️

At Ceres, everything begins with care: for the food that sustains us, the people and communities who make it possible, the filmmakers who bring food stories to life, and the generations who will inherit these stories and systems.

Through film and conversation, we create space to look more closely at the relationships between food, people, and the world around us. What began as a festival has grown into a community where questions linger long after the credits roll.

HASIK, directed by Mandy Qua and , shares the stories of seed savers across the Philippines working to preserve indigenous seeds, native biodiversity, and generations of agricultural knowledge and heritage.

A 2025 Ceres Spirit Award winner for Food Justice, this film is a beautiful reminder of the people and traditions behind the food we grow and eat.
