This incredible shot by our friend Jonathan Packer Photography back in 2022 captures the one and only Ben Simanski of Massachusetts during the opening sunset along Narragansett Bay at ADU.

Ben is a true ADU veteran who has delivered some unforgettable performances on this course... some that went exactly to plan, and others that demanded every ounce of resilience he had. No matter the outcome, his grit has always been undeniable.

That determination has earned Ben THREE entries in the ADU 100 Mile Club, in 2018, 2019, and again in 2022. In this race, captured here, Ben would go on to run 100.45 miles just 23 hours later, becoming only the seventh runner in event history to accomplish the feat.

This image became the inspiration behind the 2026 “Fear No Mile” Edition ADU Hoodie, which goes on sale tomorrow.

There’s something different about the final hours at ADU.

It’s not just the miles stacking up or the clock ticking down… it’s moments like this.

A dad chasing his first 100.
A family right there waiting.
Hugs, pride, relief… all earned the hard way.

Seeing someone complete a mission this big, surrounded by the people who love them most, is one of the greatest joys of race day.

This is Bristol’s own Benjamin Murray and his family.

After coming up short in 2024, forced to withdraw overnight after a storm knocked a branch into him, Ben came back in 2025 with unfinished business.

And this time… he finished it.

THIS is ultra-running. THIS is the ADU.

Seen here is Alison Anderson, the 2025 Anchor Down Ultra Women’s 6-Hour Champion, cruising through the course shortly after sundown on her way to an impressive 34.3 miles. Alison held off a strong push from local runner Jacqueline Francisco, who finished just 12 minutes behind her in a great race.

And Alison didn’t just show up on race day. In the days leading up to the 2026 ADU, she was also out on the trails with our volunteer crew helping with course maintenance to prep for the 2026 competition.

That’s the spirit of Anchor Down. The people of ADU are what truly make it special.

Carter Mikkelsen, crossing another loop on his way to a course record in the Men's 6-hour race in 2025. Carter went on to run 46.55 miles in 5:44:47. The ultra-running scientific term for that is "stupid fast".

In stark contrast to the heat and humidity of our shared August adventure, here is this evening’s view at roughly 15° (not taking into account windchill) from the North Point aid station. Registration Update ⚓🔥

Final registration notices have officially gone out today.

If you were bumped off the waitlist, you have until tomorrow at 1:00 PM to accept and complete your entry. Please be sure to check your email and exercise your spot before the deadline. Oh yeah... and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

To everyone who remained on the waitlist and did not get in this year... we know how disappointing that feels, and we truly appreciate the patience, excitement, and determination you showed by chasing a spot. Anchor Down Ultra has become one of the most popular and competitive ultras in the Northeast, and with the race selling out in seconds each year, the demand continues to be incredibly high.

Looking ahead, Preferred Entry remains the most reliable path to the ADU starting line. Every runner who has met the Preferred Entry standards so far has earned their way in. Qualification Standards for "Preferred Entry" can be found on our website on the "Qualify" page.

We hope you stay hungry and stay determined. This community is something special, and we’d absolutely love to see you on the starting line at ADU in the future. The best things in life are those that are hard-earned.

12 people just got "the bump". Welcome to a select few who just got invited from the wait list into the 2026 ADU. A few more selections to come, but we're almost through the selection process. 2026 Competitor List to be announced FRIDAY AFTERNOON. Final notifications of approval/denial will be sent at this time as well.

Today is the final day to submit a Method 3 entry application for the 2026 Anchor Down Ultra. Decisions will be made this coming week, with wait list notifications going out by the end of the week. In just a few short weeks, the 2026 ADU competitor lineup will be set and published. How lucky are we to chase adventures like this together? Let’s go. ⚓🔥

The Preferred Entry & Standard Entry windows are now closed. Wait List has been activated for those seeking Standard Entry still. Applications for Method 3 entry will begin to be accepted tomorrow, January 4th, through January 10th. Details for Method 3 are available at https://www.anchordownultra.com/qualify/. For those that have secured a spot at the 2026 ADU thus far, congratulations. We're so happy to have you in this community.
