🐾🦋 A Morning at the Farmstand 🌿

I stopped by the self-serve farmstand this morning to refresh plants, water, and tidy things up—and I had two special visitors.

First was the cutest little pup who stopped by to say hello and check out the plants. Then, just as I was finishing up, a beautiful swallowtail butterfly floated through. I see her often around the farmstand, and I like to think she’s become a regular visitor. It must be all the goodies we have growing here—especially the dill and parsley, which swallowtails love.

Moments like these remind me that a garden is more than plants. It’s a place where people, pollinators, pets, and nature all seem to cross paths.

🌿 Stop by our self-serve farmstand and see what’s growing:

• Organic herb & vegetable starts
• Heirloom, patio & San Marzano tomatoes
• Bell peppers & lunchbox peppers
• Cucumbers, squash & zucchini
• Basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano, parsley, dill & more
• Lemon verbena, lavender, pineapple sage & eucalyptus
• Bay leaf trees, jasmine & strawberry plants
• Succulents, scented geraniums & fun garden finds
• Cat grass (apparently customer approved 😸)

Open daily and self-serve for your convenience.

Thank you for supporting our little farmstand and all the creatures—big and small—that enjoy it too. 💚

Another beautiful celebration was held in the greenhouse this weekend.

This beautiful bride-to-be is officially fresh off the market and was showered with so much love, laughter, and well wishes from family and friends.

One of my favorite parts of sharing this space is seeing the creativity each group brings and watching people truly enjoy the atmosphere we’ve worked so hard to create. I also genuinely enjoy meeting the family and friends who gather here. Hearing their stories, seeing the connections they share, and being trusted to host such meaningful moments is something I never take for granted.

Every gathering feels a little different, and it’s always special to see a new vision come to life within these walls.

Thank you for choosing and trusting The Garden at Pinehurst Farm to host your celebrations and milestones. It truly means so much to be a small part of these special days.

Congratulations to the beautiful bride-to-be—we wish you a lifetime of happiness, laughter, and love. 🤍

Thank you for tonight’s yoga class. ❤️

There’s something special about being comfortable to pause for a moment and capture a photo of Jefar in the beginning of class… and then spend the next hour listening to me stumble over my own instructions while everyone somehow knows exactly what I mean. 😂 (after working outside….I think I’m dehydrated and overtired.)☀️

Throughout class, there’s the sound of Jefar purring in the middle of the room, or the occasional warning of “kitty!” when we’re carefully backing into our mats. We don’t officially offer cat yoga, but when you practice in a barn that happens to be home to barn cats, it tends to happen naturally.

I got a lot out of tonight’s practice, and I hope you did too.

One of the best feelings is seeing sign-up notifications come through on the ride home from people who were just in class. It’s a reminder that this little space, these gatherings, and the community we’ve built here continue to matter.

Thank you for your constant support, for appreciating this space, and for choosing to spend part of your evening here with me.

Lately I’ve been trying to hold on to the precious moments as they happen, instead of rushing past them. Tonight felt like one of those moments.

Namaste. ✨

Three years of Coal. 🖤

Our greenhouse sidekick, garden helper, farmstand supervisor, and professional taste tester turns 3 today.

Out of all the plants, herbs, and greenhouse finds around Pinehurst… his absolute favorite is lemongrass. If you’ve visited us before, there’s a good chance you’ve seen him sneak over to dramatically sniff a pot like he’s selecting the finest vintage. 🌿

Coal came to us through rescue and somehow became such a big part of the spirit of this place. We will be forever thankful to Wings of Freedom Animal Rescue for bringing this big guy into our lives. 🖤.

Coal follows us through garden projects, supervises outdoor work, rides along on flower jobs, and is always close by… many of times he’s literally under our feet while we’re creating something here at Pinehurst. 🤣

We’re pretty thankful for this big goofy dog and the joy he brings to our everyday life here at The Garden at Pinehurst Farm.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Coal. 🐾

Have you ever met our boy? What’s your favorite memory or thing about him? 🖤

(And yes… we planted extra lemongrass this year just for him.)

Disclaimer: Lemongrass can be considered toxic to dogs if consumed in larger amounts. Coal only occasionally snacks on a small piece here and there — and he is a very big boy at over 100 lbs. As always, use caution with pets and plants and consult your veterinarian if you have concerns.

We personally love using lemongrass in patio planters because this fragrant herb is also known for helping naturally deter bugs while adding beautiful texture to summer containers. 🌿

Happy Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

This photo was taken last Memorial Day — one of those moments that felt impossible not to stop and take in. A rainbow stretching across the lake, rain clouds slowly breaking, and a little bit of blue sky finding its way through.

After a rainy weekend, we’re hoping for a little repeat of this evening — a break in the clouds, some sunshine peeking through, and a reminder of the beauty that can follow the storm.

Today, we remember and honor those who gave so much for our freedom. We will always remember. ♥️🇺🇸🙏✨♥️

No one can explain the feeling when your guests send you photos after their event — because it means they truly saw the vision. ✨

This past weekend’s “Fresh Off the Market” bridal shower at The Garden at Pinehurst Farm was such a beautiful reflection of that vision. From the overflowing grazing table and handmade chalkboard market menu to the greenhouse details and cozy atmosphere, every part of this celebration felt warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated.

The rainy afternoon ended up adding to the magic. Guests gathered inside the greenhouse listening to the sound of raindrops on the roof — one of my favorite sounds here at Pinehurst. 🌧️🌿

I loved seeing how they transformed our rustic barn and greenhouse venue into something that felt uniquely theirs. Intimate celebrations like bridal showers, baby showers, brunches, rehearsal dinners, and private parties are exactly what this space was created for.

Congratulations to the beautiful couple and their families as they celebrate this exciting new chapter together. Thank you for bringing your magical celebration to our space and allowing Pinehurst to be part of such a special memory. ✨

One of my favorite herbs is lemon verbena. It’s one of those summer plants I personally crave after a hot day — a few fresh leaves added to sparkling water from the Sodastream and it instantly feels refreshing. The scent alone is enough to make it a favorite here at Pinehurst.

Beyond its beautiful citrus aroma, lemon verbena has long been appreciated for teas, infused waters, and calming herbal blends.

It’s considered a tender perennial here in Connecticut. I successfully overwintered it in the greenhouse one year, but lost it the following season. They didn’t make it through this year either, so I’ll be trying again and bringing a plant indoors this winter.

Just like all of you, I’m always learning as I grow. Some things thrive, some things don’t — and gardening definitely teaches patience and resilience along the way.

Lemon verbena, along with traditional culinary herbs and some more unique varieties, are available at our 24/7 self-serve farmstand at The Garden at Pinehurst Farm in Bristol, Connecticut.

Now available:

• Tomato plants — patio, heirloom, San Marzano & ground cherry
• Bell peppers & lunch box peppers
• Cucumbers
• Squash & zucchini
• Basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano, parsley, cilantro, dill & more
• Lavender, lemon verbena, pineapple sage & eucalyptus
• Bay leaf trees
• Jasmine plants
• Strawberry plants
• Marigolds & poppy plants
• Succulents & scented geraniums
• Cat grass and fun greenhouse finds

We also have cut flower varieties growing that will soon be available throughout the season 🌸

This isn’t your typical farmstand — it’s a curated outdoor garden stand with plants we genuinely love, botanical finds, cozy shop items, and seasonal surprises.

Thank you for supporting our small business, stopping by the stand, and following along with what we’re growing here at Pinehurst. Even something as simple as sharing this post truly helps our little farmstand continue to grow. 🌿

Morning pool check at the house turned into a little wildlife rescue. 🧡

Found this tiny guy stuck in the filter basket — an Eastern red eft, which is the juvenile stage of the eastern newt. They almost look tropical with their bright orange color and tiny black spots, but they’re actually native here in Connecticut.

I couldn’t leave him there for the birds, so I tucked him into one of the plants on the deck while he recovers. His little arm seems injured and my heart instantly broke for him. Poor thing.

Nature always has a way of slowing me down for a minute. Even the tiniest creatures deserve kindness. 🫶

And honestly… if he decides to stick around for bug control on the deck, I wouldn’t complain. 😂🙌

National Dog Rescue Day feels especially meaningful to us. 🤍

Around this time in 2023, we said goodbye to our family dog, Mack. Losing him truly broke my heart. It’s hard to explain the bond I feel with animals — especially dogs. There is something so pure about their love, loyalty, and presence.

I actually tell my daughters that if they ever feel lonely, awkward, or left out somewhere… go sit with the dog. Dogs always seem to know.

Animals deserve kindness, patience, and love. The unconditional comfort they bring to people is something so special.

Today we’re extra thankful for Wings of Freedom Animal Rescue for bringing “Tubby Muffin” into our lives — now better known as Coal, our beloved Pinehurst marketing dog, greenhouse sidekick, and loyal companion. He has brought so much joy, comfort, laughter, and love into our family and this little place we’ve created.

Rescue dogs really do rescue people too. 🖤
