The Naked Table Project

The Naked Table Project "connecting people to each other by making things by hand" www.NakedTable.com

The Naked Table Project builds tables with and for friends and families in communities across New England, made of our iconic Sugar Maple which has been responsibly managed and locally harvested. We build in our workshops, walk and learn in our forests, and celebrate over a localvore feast upon our tables - forest to table. The Naked Table is naked of ego, stripped to its essentials as the centerp

iece of the home - and is made in the most simplistic and time-tested manner. We invite friends and families to our workshops to make tables for themselves to last for ages to come. Each piece in the Naked Collection is made from the iconic Sugar Maple harvested in the forests we visit in our workshops - inverse from conventional methods of deforesting and sourcing wood from anywhere in the nation, or the world. Using Vermont Natural Coating’s whey-based finish in our workshops the table is completely non-toxic with the most minimal environmental impact. Since the start of the project in 2008, the table has come to symbolize our community’s connection to our local environment and our ability to make something of it.

Unfortunately due to flooding of both our building and our state capital, Montpelier, we are forced to postpone the Naked Table event. Our state capital as well as the Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity office have experienced catastrophic damages and are in the process of recovering. A new date has been tentatively set for June 2024. Thank you all so much for your understanding and involvement in supporting our local community. We are Vermont Strong ❤️

Come make your own table using sugar maple sustainably harvested from Senator Patrick Leahy's land, in a celebration of sustainable forestry, woodworking, and a shared meal. We are honored that Senator Leahy will be the guest speaker at the dinner.

The cost for the experience is $2500, which includes your table made by up to six people and two places at the celebratory locavore dinner. Additional dinner tickets are $65 each.

All funds raised from the event and dinner will be donated to the Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎

We take our commitment to sustainability seriously here at ShackletonThomas, which is why we started our non-profit - The Naked Table Project.

The Naked Table Project () builds tables with and for friends and families in communities across New England. Every table is made of Vermont’s iconic Sugar Maple which has been responsibly managed and locally harvested. We build in our workshops, walk and learn in the forests, and celebrate over a locavore feast upon our tables — forest to table.

Each piece in the Naked Collection is made from the iconic Sugar Maple harvested in the forests we visit in our workshops. Conventional harvest methods frequently include deforestation and wood sourced from far reaching destinations, leaving behind a massive carbon footprint. Not sustainable at all!

We seal the tables with Vermont Natural Coating’s whey-based finish, developed in a partnership with University of Vermont. Not only does using Vermont Natural Coating’s in our workshops ensure the table is completely non-toxic with minimal environmental impact - we're also supporting local businesses and research.
