A big shout out to the Bremen Cub Scouts for planting our flower pots for the 2026 season. Thank you to Jessica F. and Gayle G. for coordinating plant selections and pick up!

In addition to these planters, we have permanent landscaping being delivered and installed this week! Stay tuned!

We found a historical photo of St. Paul’s Lutheran Pre-School students planting some tulips from the early 1980s!

Green thumbs and community service never change in our great town!

Written in 1946: "The Cross of Christ has towered over our congregation and our community for a century and has brought light, life, comfort, joy, and hope to the multitudes who have entered our portals. Only eternity will reveal the blessings of the message of the Cross"

I'm sorry for all the Open Studio event content, but studies prove that you need to see an "ad" ELEVEN times before you act on it. 😜 Do you believe it?

Fun Fact Friday: How Did the Bremen Community Center Come to Be?

While the Bremen Community Center building itself was constructed around 1875, its story actually begins nearly 30 years earlier - in 1846.

That year, George Konrad Schuster settled in Bremen with a mission to establish a church congregation. What started with just eight families gathering for worship in a humble log cabin near present-day Bremen Cemetery would eventually grow into something far greater.

Pastor Schuster even traveled to Chicago by foot and horseback to assist in forming the original charter of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). His ministry extended beyond Bremen, as he routinely journeyed to surrounding mission churches in Woodland and Mishawaka to serve fellow congregations.

In 1869, while returning home to Bremen through a severe snowstorm, Pastor Schuster contracted pneumonia. He passed away on November 5, 1869.

His dedication and sacrifice laid the foundation for what would become St. Paul’s Lutheran Church — and ultimately, the Bremen Community and Performing Arts Center. Without Pastor Schuster’s vision and perseverance, this important piece of Bremen’s history may never have existed.
