Local Medieval Society Group Brings Fun and Fantasy to the Wabash Valley
The citizens of the Barony of Stormcrest would like to invite the good people of the Wabash Valley and the surrounding area to attend the second annual Stormcrest Festival. Join us for two days of battlegames, medieval arts and sciences demonstrations, music, roleplay, vendors, and more! Immerse yourself in the middle of your own medieval fantasy. Tickets are $10 at the gate for one day, $15 for two days, and kids 8 and under, and first responders are free!
The Barony of Stormcrest is part of a large LARP society called Amtgard. Amtgard is a world-wide, non-profit organization dedicated to medieval and fantasy combat sports and recreation. Participants use padded weapons, fantasy and authentic clothing, and imagination to immerse players in a world of heroic combat, quests, crafts, and more. No matter if your interest is competitive sports fighting, finding an outlet for your creative talents, or honing your leadership skills, Amtgard has something to offer.
Amtgard reaches beyond the game aspects; it’s also a Medieval recreation society. Amtgard society is organized into geographical Kingdoms and local Shires, Baronies and Duchies. Amtgard has events with hundreds of participants, awards and accolades, titles, and more.
Many Amtgard members excel in a wide variety of crafts and skills, collectively referred to as the Arts & Sciences. Almost every piece of clothing, armor, weapon, or accessory you see was hand crafted by Amtgardians. Teaching is a wide-spread tradition in Amtgard, and in many cases members learned their skills from other Amtgardians. During the Stormcrest Festival, many examples of the Arts and Sciences will be on display, and the public is encouraged to watch as some of our talented park members will be demonstrating their skills, both in the Craft Shelter and on the Bardic performance stage.
