Have you ever heard of a Wind Phone? Thereβs one next to the Sunset Beach Pier in NC. ππ
Inside a small glass case sits an old-fashioned phone where people can βcallβ loved ones theyβve lost or canβt be near.
It was created by parents grieving the loss of their children and meant to give others a quiet place to speak the words sitting heavy on their hearts.
For me, it became a symbolic but deeply meaningful way to acknowledge my son who never got to take a beach vacation.
Thereβs no dial tone. No one answers on the other end.
Just the sound of the waves, and a moment to say the things you wish you could still say carried off by the wind.
Itβs one of the most touching and unexpectedly human things Iβve come across at the NC coast.
