Leon Carl De Jongh

"Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control." These words from Galatians 5 were the essence and strength of Carl De Jongh's life. On May 26, 2026 Carl quietly slipped away to join his Heavenly Father.

Growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Carl attended Christian elementary and high school, then continued on to Calvin University. After graduating in three years, he enrolled in the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, pursuing his advanced study of Endodontics. After serving two years in the Navy, stationed in Georgia, he returned to finish at U of M before moving to Manatee county where Dr. De Jongh became the first endodontist. Carl loved his practice for over 50 years, earning the love and respect of patients and fellow professionals. He and his wife Pat grew their beautiful family to four busy boys, loving life on the water in Florida and snow skiing in the Rockies. Carl's life was always grounded in his strong faith, believing and living in it every day. After Pat's long, courageous battle with cancer and her passing, Carl found love again and married Veda in 2004, adding three more grown children to his beloved family. Together, Carl and Veda's lives over the next twenty-two years joyfully exploded with twenty-two beautiful grandchildren.

Carl's life was marked by his devotion to God, his commitment to his family, and his service to others. His kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith touched all who knew him.

A joyful Celebration of Life and Thanksgiving will be held Monday, June 1, at 1:30pm, at First United Methodist Church of Palmetto, followed by a reception at the Bradenton Yacht Club, 3:00-5:00. Please come join the family to celebrate "the goodest man ever," a beautiful life.

Carol graduated from Ohio State University where she was a proud member of Alpha Xi Delta, a sisterhood that no doubt helped to shape her compassionate and lively character. Her professional journey began as a dedicated flight attendant for American Airlines based in Chicago, where her warm smile and attentive care made her a favorite among passengers. She also contributed her talents as a public relations representative for GTE, before eventually pursuing her entrepreneurial spirit by owning Island Interiors in Holmes Beach, Florida—a community she called home following her move there in 1958.

Her quaint home in Bradenton resonated with warmth, much like the love she shared freely.

Lauryn Marie Akey

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lauryn Akey, who left this world far too soon at the age of 21.

Lauryn graduated from Rochelle Township High School in Rochelle, Illinois, in 2023 before moving to Florida with her family to begin an exciting new chapter in life. While in high school, she was a cheerleader and loved being part of her school community. She was about to begin her senior year at University of South Florida in Tampa, where she was a 4.0 student majoring in Exercise Science. After earning her degree, Lauryn planned to pursue a career in nursing while building a beautiful future with her boyfriend and the love of her life, Garrett Day.

Lauryn was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. Known for her kind heart, warm spirit, and beautiful smile, she had a way of bringing joy wherever she went. One of Lauryn’s greatest joys was spending time with her friends on the water, fishing and chasing sunsets. She adored her Golden Retriever, Sanibel, Australian Shepherd, Zues, and Havanese, Miley. She was known as “Sissy” by her little brothers. She was also a proud Swiftie who found so much happiness in the music, memories, and experiences shared through every Era.

Though Lauryn’s time here was far too brief, she made a lasting impact on everyone blessed enough to know and love her. She will be remembered for her bright personality, loving heart, contagious laughter, and the countless beautiful memories she created with family and friends.

“Long live all the magic we made.”

Lauryn is survived by her mother, Melinda Mucho; father, Jason Akey; stepmother, Amy Akey; stepfather, Robert Mucho; brothers, Zachary Akey, Maddox Akey, Jaxon Akey, and Avery Akey; grandparents, Julie Torgersen (Bob Edler), Steven Peavy (Julie), and Jim Akey (Luidamilla); along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Claudia Bossé Fahy

Claudia Bossé Fahy, age 73 of Wolcott, Connecticut, passed away on April 26, 2026. Born on January 2, 1953, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Claudia was raised in a humble, hardworking family whose values shaped the woman she became. The daughter of Maurice Bossé and Cecile LeBeau, Claudia grew up alongside her sisters, Judith and Lorraine, in Waterbury. Her parents, who came from modest beginnings, her father having roots in Canada, worked tirelessly to provide a better life for their children, instilling in Claudia a deep sense of resilience, discipline, and compassion.

Claudia graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School and went on to attend St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Bridgeport, where she became a Registered Nurse. She dedicated the majority of her career to geriatric care, serving in skilled nursing and convalescent facilities. As a nursing supervisor on the 3–11 shift, she was known for being “by the book,” holding her staff to the highest standards because she understood the profound responsibility of caring for others. She was a no-nonsense leader: honest, direct, and unwavering, but also deeply kind and compassionate, always advocating for the dignity and well-being of her patients.

After retiring from bedside nursing, Claudia continued her work in healthcare as a diabetic disease case manager with Aetna, where her knowledge and guidance remained a trusted resource not only professionally, but for family and friends alike. Many turned to her for advice, knowing she would always offer clear, thoughtful, and reliable direction.

Above all else, Claudia was a devoted and extraordinary mother. She and her beloved husband, Martin John Fahy Sr., built their lives around their children, creating a home filled with love, structure, and unwavering support. Claudia was the kind of mother who gave everything of herself, and more.

Claudia faced significant loss throughout her life, including the untimely death of her daughter, Kimberly, who died at a young age after battling chronic illness, and the very recent passing of her husband, Martin. Despite profound heartbreak and her own lifelong health challenges, Claudia never allowed hardship to harden her spirit. She remained strong, loving, and deeply committed to those around her.

She is survived by her children, Martin Fahy Jr. and Erica Fahy of Wolcott, Ct., both of whom were adopted and cherished beyond measure, especially knowing that they were chosen by her to be loved. Her son, Martin Jr., devoted himself to her care, especially in her final days, offering her comfort, dignity, and unwavering love, a task that allowed him a chance to give her the same respect and affection that she offered so freely throughout her entire life. She is also survived by her sisters, Judith Lamontagne of Southington, Connecticut and Lorraine Joseph of Wolcott, Connecticut, and by her sister-in-law, Eileen Fahy, who looked to Claudia as a mother figure. She also leaves behind three special grandsons: Luke, Liam, and Landon Flanagan, also from Wolcott. She loved them dearly and only wished her health allowed her greater opportunity with them. She looked forward to summers by the pool and building strong memories with them. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews who looked to her for guidance.

Claudia will be remembered as a woman of strength, integrity, and fierce love: a straight shooter with a generous heart, whose presence brought guidance, protection, and honesty to all who knew her.Though her family is heartbroken by this loss, they find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband and daughter. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

She was quick with a laugh, quicker with the truth, and full of love underneath it all.
