Did you know Boyne City Pirate Fest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting water quality conservation and environmental education? 🏴‍☠️🌊

We’re committed to protecting our natural resources, enjoying the bounty around us, and engaging both our community and visitors in meaningful (and fun!) ways.

Here’s how we’re making an impact:
⚓ River cleanups in Boyne City and East Jordan
🎓 Scholarships for high school students pursuing environmental programs
🌿 Donations to and volunteer support for environmental organizations
⛵ Partnering with the Maritime Heritage Alliance to take kids sailing aboard Champion to learn about our lakes and how to sail!

We’re always looking for creative ways to further our mission — if you’ve got ideas, send them our way!

During Pirate Fest, we were proud to host Champion for a week – giving local youth who might not otherwise have the opportunity the chance to set sail and learn the art of sailing. This meaningful experience was made possible through the generous support of our sponsors.

A special thank you to The Concrete Service, Inc. who sponsored an entire day aboard Champion for teens from The Depot Jordan Valley Teen Center . The participants were thrilled to have this unforgettable experience on the water.

We’d also like to extend our gratitude to the Maritime Heritage Alliance for partnering with us in our shared mission to protect, preserve, and enjoy our beautiful waterways.

This year we took our mission statement even further! With the help of the community we were able to host the Champion from the Maritime Heritage Alliance for a week and give local youth the opportunity to learn about sailing and our lakes!

A big thank you to Lake Charlevoix Maple for sponsoring an entire day of the Champion which allowed people from the Bergmann Center to have this unforgettable experience! ⛵️

We joined up with Friends of the Boyne River to help clean up the Boyne River! We focused on the mouth of the river up to Old City Park while others focused even further up, including many dedicated kayakers! 🏞 We're so proud of the work that FOTBR and their volunteers did and happy we could be part of keeping our waterways clean ❤️

RIVER CLEAN-UP - Friends of the Boyne River are organizing a River Sweep clean-up from 9 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, August 16. Volunteers who would like to participate should meet at the boat launch in Veterans Park. The event invitation says, “Bring a kayak to float the river and help the team clean up anything ‘lost’ during the summer season. If you don’t care to kayak or float the river, you can help out by walking the river bank in town, or check some of the feeder streams for debris. We will give you an area to work on. This is a great way to meet other people who love to kayak and enjoy the river and nature.”
