Please be advised that there will once again be no major balloon event for this year in Bowling Green, KY (a.k.a. Balloon Classic or Balloons, Tunes & BBQ). United Way is appreciative of all past sponsors of the Balloon Classic / Balloons, Tunes & BBQ, especially title sponsor U.S. Bank. U.S. Bank has generously redirected Balloon Classic funding to support United Way’s early childhood education and kindergarten readiness initiative in order to ensure that all children across Southern Kentucky have the best chance for a successful future. Thank you to all past patrons, sponsors, and supporters of the Balloon Classic/ Balloons, Tunes & BBQ. It was a great 26 year run! We are holding off on opening gates until the storm passes. Stay tuned for updates.

If we are in the midst of a storm at 3:30, we will hold the gate until the storm passes. All activities will be suspended if lightning is in the area. Best case is to have at least some balloons go up after the storm passes. All based on timing. Stay tuned for updates.

Balloon update: This afternoon's flight will depend on timing....current storm line to the west is moving northeast at 35 knots. Whether or not it is going to stay together and get here remains to be seen but the most updated forecasts are putting the line through here between 5-7 pm ish. The wind and chances of storms are supposed to diminish on the back side of this system, it is just a question of timing.

All balloon flights cancelled this morning due to high winds and storms to the west. Gates will not open this morning. Currently scheduled to open gates at 3:30pm pending weather. Stay tuned for updates.
