50k course marking

It was a long day for Patrick and I marking the 1st section of the Elephant Rock Trail 50k course, with a 5,430 elevation gain at Holbrook/Sessions Mountains. Cristi is assisting us with the other half at Mueller Park.
This became an yearly tradition between Patrick and I, my co-Race Director, and Cristi has volunteering also for multiple years after she aced the marathon course.
Weather was just perfect, temperatures on the 70s, and the wind and light rain made the journey even better.
After the food shopping this afternoon with my daughter, also another family tradition, I'd say we're 95.754321 % ready for this Saturday races. 😂
Ha! Did I mentioned those who came to help hauling water for an aid station? What incredible humans.❤️
We're picking up the race awards tomorrow and we'll be ready to roll...
We're so thankful for all the friends and volunteers supporting us at this event and can't wait to Welcome all this year's participants!

🐘🏔Runners!
I hope this message finds you well and healthy!

I spent this morning scoping the Elephant Rock Trail NEW course for the half, full and 2nd section of the 50k, at Mueller Park, and once again trails did not disappoint.😍

The trailhead was almost empty with my early start, 7:30am, and by following the newly approved marathon course, I only encountered 2 hikers and a couple of bikers.
The only semi-busy section of the course was on the 7-miler heading towards Elephant Rock and at the starting area of the course (by the bridge) at the end, but it can be avoided with an earlier start or night run.

I'll update the registration website this weekend with the approximate distances based on my GPS.
For instance, the old half-marathon was estimated 13.8 miles. The newly approved half marathon is 16.3. Please, keep in mind that this is a Trail half marathon and not the traditional road marathon course 13.1-miler.
You can expect also a slightly change in the full marathon and 50k distances as they'll be posted.
The 7-miler remains the same, as previous years.

Also, next week, you'll receive an email with a Facebook live invitation for our Virtual pre-race Meeting where we'll explain the course in details.
We have also updated GPX files that will be shared with your registration.
