Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Fans,
After much thought and strong contemplation, Maiden Phoenix Theatre Company has made the decision to close its metaphorical doors. After 5 years of producing in Boston, the members of our company have decided to move on to other opportunities.
We are very proud of the work we have done over the last few years telling women’s stories. Our original goal was to give opportunity to women by having at least 51% women represented in all our shows onstage and off, and I am happy to say we far exceeded that goal.
4 out of 5 of our Playwrights have been women
4 out of 5 of our Directors have been women
We produced 2 ALL- Female shows
We hired 29 female actors and 7 male actors total
Our Design Staff has consistently been 70% female
We deeply appreciate the support you have shown us, and our work, over the past 5 years. We plan to continue to advocate for women and women’s stories in all of our artistic endeavors moving forward.
