A MESSAGE TO THE 6-12-24 HOUR WORLD TIME TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS COMMUNITY

After careful consideration, we have decided there will be no 2026 edition of the WTTC.

The WTTC has become very popular, attracting participants from around the world. But there are considerable challenges. The pause is being taken to allow time to review the long-term sustainability of the event.

We believe it’s important to take the time needed to assess the long-term path, rather than create expectations around a 2026 event before that work has been completed.

Our intention is to use this period to determine the best path forward for the WTTC, with the goal of working toward a return in 2027 with a clear path to sustainability.

We know how much the event means to the riders, support crew members, volunteers, and partners, as well as the host community. You all are the soul and strength of the WTTC. The entire WTTC community deserves to be preserved and honored. It is for this reason we have chosen transparency and clarity over haste.

We are deeply grateful for your loyalty and your passion, which are at the heart of every decision we make.

THE 2026 EDITION OF THE 508, “THE TOUGHEST 48-HOURS IN SPORT”

SEPTEMBER 18-20, 2026 – BORREGO SPRINGS, CA
REGISTRATION OPENS MARCH 15, 2026

The 508 – the original RAAM Qualifier - returns to Southern California. The 508 has taken place uninterrupted since 1983 – 43 years. The 2026 edition of The 508 will take place September 18-20 in Borrego Springs, CA, a community of 3,500, roughly 90 miles NE of San Diego.

Founded by John Marino in 1983 and recognized as "The Toughest 48 hours in Sport," this 508-mile bicycle race is revered the world over for its epic mountain climbs, stark desert scenery, desolate roads, and its reputation as one of the toughest but most gratifying endurance challenges available, bar none.

The 508 will be open to solo racers as well as 2 and 4-person teams. Solo riders may ride with or without a support crew. Teams must be accompanied by a support vehicle. The course will feature four loops totaling 508 miles with 38,000 ft of elevation gain. Each loop uses a portion of the RAAM route. Each loop will start and finish at the Borrego Springs Resort and Spa.

Racers under 30 years old can receive 20% off the entry fee.
