📣Please honor our 2026 Grand Marshall with us on Saturday: Kristin Sterk ! Kristin was born + raised in Borculo where her family owned a dairy farm, she attended Borculo Christian School and went to Borculo CRC up until the time she got married. When she was 17 years old, she was diagnosed with a rare heart condition that required an open heart surgery to correct. It was her school and church family that surrounded her and her family during this shocking diagnosis. Kristin is married to her husband Dan, who is a youth pastor, and after moving around a bit, they landed back in the area in 2017. It was then that Kristin was diagnosed with heart failure and had back-to-back open heart surgeries that almost took her life. During one of Kristin’s many heart procedures after, she was then diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia), which she would battle for the next few years. In 2024, she received a bone marrow transplant and is humbled to say that she is currently cancer free! During these trials, it has been her Borculo community that has come around her to support her and her family in every way possible. Roots that were established years ago, are still being watered through the generosity of this town. Through the support of the Borculo Christian School community, where she now works and where their daughter, Mazy, also attends, and through the many relationships she continues to hold from childhood, she is grateful for the love and support given, and even more so, humbled to represent what the Dandelion Parade stands for as the Grand Marshall. And Kristin, we're thrilled to share your story and honor you as our Parade Marshal
