Good Morning 2 days until the Open Swine Show at the Boone County Fair. Couple of reminders:

Open Show Check-in is from 3-5 *Out of County Trailers cannot be on the grounds until after 3pm*

*PARKING*- Out of county participants will have designated parking in the grass area north of the swine barn next to the Pen of 3 Cattle. There is also parking on the north of the entrance road. Please stay in the painted lines so we can fit as many trailers as possible.

Health Papers- Health Papers Required

Vet Check-in: Reminder no animals can leave their trailers until after they have been vet checked!

Judge: Derek Henningsen

Weight Cards- Weight Cards are due by 5:15

Scale- We will have the scale available until 5:40

Wash Rack- We have 10 brand new wash racks for use

Please help us keep the show on time and register your hogs before you get to the show. You don't have to pay just register your information then during check in you can delete hogs you didn't bring or are not showing. We look forward to seeing everyone on the 16th.

Good Afternoon it is hard to believe that we are in our final day of June and moving into 16 days until the Boone County Fair Open Swine Show. A few reminders as we are getting closer to our 6th show:

Date: July 16th
Location: Boone County Fair Grounds 1601 Industrial Park Rd, Boone, IA 50036
Parking: There is plenty of room to park on the grounds and show off of trailers. Reminder no hogs off of their trailers until through vet check.
Vet Check: 3pm-5pm no earlier and no out of county pigs allowed on the grounds until after 3pm as this is the day our county brings our county fair animals to the grounds.
Check In: Check-in will be at the North end of the show arena
Health Papers: Required and follow the state rules
Purebred Papers: Must have Purebred Paper at check-in.
Scale: Available for weight checks
Weigh Back: Declared weight 15 lbs plus or minus declared weight
Weigh Cards: Due by 5:15pm
Show Starts: 6pm
Judge: Derek Henningsen -Derek, his wife McKenna and their son Briggs live in Washington, IA. Derek received his Associates Degree from Illinois Central college and then came to Iowa State to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and was a part of the 2019 Iowa State Livestock judging team. Derek completed a master’s degree in animal science from Iowa State in 2023. Currently, Derek works for JBS Live Pork as a Multiplication Grow-Finish Production Manager and oversees all of their gilt development.
