The Sembrich

The Sembrich Experience music, history, and nature at The Sembrich in Bolton Landing! Step back a century into America’s “Gilded Age” in The Sembrich’s museum.

Each year The Sembrich presents a summer festival including live concerts, films, children’s programming, and presentations featuring world-class musicians. The Sembrich’s popular outdoor World Music Wednesday series features inspired multicultural lakeside performances. Indoor events are held within the intimate setting of the studio museum, a superb venue with excellent acoustics. Listed on the

National Historic Register, The Sembrich was once part of the summer estate of Polish opera singer Marcella Sembrich (1858-1935), a leading prima donna at The Metropolitan Opera and a founding member of the voice faculties for the Juilliard School and The Curtis Institute of Music. Upon her passing, Sembrich’s lakeside teaching studio was transformed into a museum preserving her legacy. The museum contains memorabilia of her distinguished career, with accolades from colleagues including Brahms, Puccini, and Verdi. Also featured are a working Victrola, Sembrich’s original Steinway piano, opera costumes, art, furniture, photographs, and tributes. Stroll along pristine shoreline paths on 4.5 acres and enjoy picturesque views of the Adirondack Mountains and Lake George, the “Queen of America’s Lakes.” Bring family and friends and enjoy a lakeside lunch beneath the majestic pines on secluded Hydrangea Bay. Carry-in carry-out picnicking is welcomed and encouraged. Experience The Sembrich! Visit today for a unique blend of Music, History, and Nature! Happy National Teachers’ Day! 🍎🎶

While many remember Marcella Sembrich for her extraordinary operatic career, her work as a teacher left a lasting influence — one that would ripple outward through her students and the generations they, in turn, inspired.

Among them was Natalie Bodanya, who reflected:
“[Sembrich] cared for me and changed my life... Not only to be an effective teacher, but a friendly, hearty and loving person.”

Today we celebrate the teachers whose guidance lives on, not only in their students but in the generations that follow.
