This program is a series of educational seminars developed by graduate students in the Kinesiology department at Boise State University.These seminars were developed for parents,coaches, and other individuals involved in youth sports. Our goal is to provide information and strategies that parents can use to promote positive experiences and outcomes within their youth sport communities.The seminars

This is a great article in light of the tragedy that occurred in Utah. This is why we put this program together and want to not only give our athletes a positive experience in sport but everyone surrounding youth sport.

Coaches who think it's OK to ride the refs, fans who feel it's cool to yell at officials all the time and the confusion of professional sports with youth sports lead to a breakdown in respect for authority.

Great article on a new recruiting method of WHL coach/GM/owner/former NHL player, Brent Sutter. Sutter is looking for "true athletes" and feels that specialization stunts their development.

Today, more and more parents are enrolling their kids in hockey 10-12 months of the year, with the hope their children will become better players. But is it working?

As soon as you know who your child's coach is going to be, introduce yourself, let him or her know you want to help your child have the best possible experience and offer to assist the coach in any way you are able. Meeting the coach early and establishing a positive relationship will make conversation easier if a problem arises during the season. - Responsible sports weekly parent tip
