Just Announced 📢 West coast psych rock purveyors (and Bloomington expats) Triptides are coming to The Bishop on Friday, August 7 at 9pm. Tickets for this 18+ show are now on sale.

Over the last fourteen years and dozens of albums and singles, cosmic LA rockers Triptides have traversed a kaleidoscopic musical landscape of psychedelic rock, Laurel Canyon folk, and spaced out jazz pop — but each track can be traced back to the group’s leader, Glenn Brigman’s unique ability to craft and explore a seemingly infinite number of dimensional melodies and harmonies. With every line of Brigman’s airy vocals that dance across the tape and into the speakers, stoners, trippers and lovers alike are transported to a sweet and familiar place, lifted by chiming guitars, hypnotic drums, glittering pianos and hallucinogenic fuzz.

Each Triptides recording is a personal reflection, an unexpected evolution and honest testament to The Song. And the next one will be no different. Catch Triptides live, and you’ll see a band that shifts shapes and moods like lightning in a bottle, fluidly and fluently turning up and turning out — always taking the audience on a trip.

Either way, you’ll want to find them out there.

Just Announced 📢 Folk Americana trio The Wildwoods is coming to The Bishop on Thursday, July 2nd at 8pm. Tickets for this 18+ show go on sale 10 am Friday but you can get them a day earlier using the code: 68SPIRIT

The Wildwoods, hailing from Lincoln, Nebraska, continue to bring sonic beauty and simplicity to today’s increasingly complicated and cluttered musical landscape. With Dear Meadowlark, the band’s fourth full-length album released on April 11, 2025, The Wildwoods have once again taken the hallmarks of the folk-Americana sound and dressed it in indie sensibilities a la heroes Nickel Creek and Gillian Welch as well as genre mainstays Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons.

And yet, at its core, Dear Meadowlark is about three 20-something musicians celebrating the emotional allure of familiarity and comfort. “The main lyrical theme of the album is the appreciation for our home state of Nebraska and the homesickness that can come with long periods spent on the road,” says Noah Gose.

The Wildwoods are Noah Gose on vocals, acoustic and electric guitar; his wife, Chloe Gose on vocals and violin; and longtime friend Andrew Vaggalis on vocals and upright bass. Their delicate embrace of the past, present, and future has transformed The Wildwoods into a potent entity. Recently, The Wildwoods were finalists in the 2024 Rocky Mountain Songwriter Contest in Red Lodge, Montana. In 2023, the trio enjoyed being finalists in two high-profile band competitions – FreshGrass Music Festival and VHS “Gems in the Rough.” Also, their songwriting strengths have been recognized by semi-final placements in the International Songwriting competition with tracks such as “Untitled” and “Way of Train.”

Just Announced 📣 Case Oats are coming to The Bishop on Thursday, May 21 with Henry True. 18+, tickets on sale 10am Friday.

Casey Walker never thought she’d write an album. A novel, maybe, when she was in undergraduate school for creative writing. But music always called to her, and it wasn’t until she moved to Chicago and met a stable of musicians that she realized that recording was within reach.

Walker formed Case Oats in 2018 and turned the band into a Chicago fixture until finally, in 2025, signing with Merge Records, and releasing a debut record to critical acclaim. Chicago Sun-Times called it a “standout debut.” Rolling Stone hailed it as “a winning set of alt-country and folk songs with warm melodies, novelistic verses, and unassuming vocals that recall Daniel Johnston and Kimya Dawson.”

The album was produced by Walker’s longtime bandmate and fiancé, Spencer Tweedy (drums), and recorded in a makeshift Chicago basement studio, in the bungalow rented by Jason Ashworth (bass) and Max Subar (guitar and pedal steel), featuring fiddle work by Scott Daniel and guest pianist/organist Nolan Chin. Walker’s songs get to the heart of relationships and experience, and bring city life down to earth—to the porch swing, where Walker believes everyone ultimately belongs.

Just Announced 📢 Louisville’s “denim-psych” collective are coming to The Bishop on Saturday, April 25. Tickets on sale now 🔔

Formed in 2022 in Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.A. by 7 music school nerds, DOOM GONG has made a name for themselves internationally with their own home-baked genre, Denim Psych - a hodgepodge of psychedelic rock, jazz fusion, prog rock, bedroom pop, lo-fi, contemporary classical music, as well as blood, sweat, and a lot of denim.

Having amassed a catalogue of 3 rock opera-esque LP’s (DOOM GONG, Dream Behemoth and MEGAGONG) and 1 Live album (Live at the Whirling Tiger) in only 3 years, DOOM GONG has quickly become a mainstay of the psych scene in the U.S. and abroad, having performed their enigmatic and seamless live shows alongside the likes of Amyl and the Sniffers, The Black Angels, BADBADNOTGOOD, Allah Las, King Buffalo, Bass Drum of Death, Death Valley Girls, HOLY WAVE, among many others. The denim assemblage also performs at many national and regional festivals across the continent including Treefort Music Fest (US), Sled Island (CAN), Offbeat Music Fest (US),  Purple City Music Festival (CAN), Big Stomp (US) Back Alley Ballyhoo (US), Swampfest (CAN), Expansion Psychedelic Festival (US), Moonshiners Ball (US), and Jorts Fest (US).

With another 6 albums in the chamber, a European tour coming summer of 2026 and the rest of the world soon after; DOOM GONG isn’t done yet, not by a long shot. THE GONG RINGS ON

Sluice is the recording project of Durham based musician/engineer Justin Morris (Fust, Weirs, Aunt Sis).
