You spoke, I listened. I will have some news this Fall about Bark in the Park (Otto's version, NOT Honktoberfest) moving to Duluth. Things are already in motion. Details to come! This new venue will be bigger and better! Thank you again for your support. :)

DISCLAIMER: I am no longer doing the Bark in the Park Dachshund Races at Honktoberfest. I am not happy about this, but what can I do? I have been pushed out of something I created. I have all the stuff to run the race so I have no idea what they will be using or where they plan to locate it. I can not guarantee the safety of the dogs, something you all know I took very seriously. I had to fight hard for dog safety last year.

I have moved to Duluth now, so I may just have some dachshund races in Duluth, in the future. If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to help with races in the Twin Ports, email me at: [email protected]

Thank you for the many years you helped support and grow this event. Thank you to all the volunteers. Thank you to all your dogs, some whom Otto has become friends with!

For the record, I do not endorse this new race. My personal suggestion, go to the Oktoberfestival in Duluth or the Renaissance Fest with your dogs instead. But, you do you. They have already changed the weight limit on wannbees to 25 # from 20 #, so that is bigger dogs by your dogs. Most dachshund races won't even allow other breeds to protect the small dogs. But, I allowed (and SOME other races) up to 20 #. It is a dog safety issue, sometimes an insurance issue. I honestly do not know what they have planned, to be fair, they may be covering all the concerns.

To be clear...Bark in the Park is not the intellectual property of Honktoberfest. It was MINE. Period. How do I know? I created both events.

When I first said I was bringing Dachshund Races to Biwabik, I was laughed at. I was told how will you ever get enough dachshunds? How? The dachshund community is a tight and loyal community. I hope I can get some of you to come to races in the Twin Ports. :). I will keep this Bark in the Park FB page open to let you all know if & when we can get something organized in the Twin Ports.

Today is the day Honk hath made! Be joyous in it. The race course is ready! Come to Honktoberfest in Biwabik. Dachshund & We**ie Wannabe races, check in begins at Noon, races start at 1pm. You can message us here, on our FB page or show up between noon and 1pm to check in your dog and get assigned a heat. We will have door prizes from Tractor Supply, Inc. Prizes are a custom ceramic dog bowl for the racer and passes to the Brew Fest for the two person race team. Must be 21+ to use Brew Fest passes.

ANY dog 20 # or smaller qualifies to race!! Two categories. Purebred Dachshund & We**ie Wannabes!!
