The Williston Basin Petroleum Conference is the largest Bakken conference and expo in the world, featuring more than 60 speakers and more than 250 vendor booths. The conference alternates between Bismarck, North Dakota, and Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. The conference was started in 1992 to spur development of t
he Williston Basin’s oil resources using new technologies, including horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. It has since grown to include topics such as increasing efficiencies, flaring reduction, disposal of waste, housing development, social impacts related to oil development, and other challenges.
