Congratulations to the Nyrstar Tennessee Mine Rescue Team, recipients of this year’s Hero Award at the Southeastern Mine Safety and Health Conference.

The team was recognized for their courageous and selfless response to the flood emergency in Erwin, Tennessee, where members spent four long days searching through debris and assisting in rescue efforts.

The Florida Mine Safety Program’s Mining Program Manager, Karen Miller, was honored to nominate this exceptional team for their outstanding service and dedication to others.

Day 1 was a success! We celebrated seven 40-year safe miners and awarded the Nyrstar mine rescue team for their work in helping flood victims earlier this year. We also recognized Danny Callies for his ongoing dedication to conference success.
