To our running family: A thank you from the Hand-in-Hand Fire Company. 👨‍🚒

Runners came from all over the country to be here for our annual Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon fundraising event. Many of you traveled a long way to run through our little corner of Lancaster County farmland. Others showed up as neighbors yet again. You came together to support a fully volunteer fire company, and we don't take that lightly.

To the volunteers who worked the course, staffed event needs, directed traffic, and put in the long hours: this race couldn’t happen without you. You stepped up, just like you always do.

The name Hand-in-Hand isn't just a name given to our fire company over 100 years ago. It's how this community works. Every runner, volunteer, sponsor, and neighbor along the route came together once again to help us keep our volunteer firefighters trained, equipped, and ready to answer the call.

We're grateful for every one of you. Thank you.

Race day is behind us, but our hearts are still full. 💛
You brought the miles, the smiles, and apparently a whole thesaurus of superlatives! We've been reading your kind words all week (and no, that's not a tear, it's just a little Lancaster County pollen).
To everyone in our running family — runners, pacers, volunteers, sponsors, and neighbors cheering along the course — thank you. You make the Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon feel less like a race and more like a running community celebration.

Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon, 5K, and Kid's Fun Run is on Friday September 11, 2026 to Saturday September 12, 2026. It includes the following events: Fire Company Challenge (5K & 1/2 Marathon), 1/2 Marathon, 5K, Kids Fun Run, Pasta Dinner (Age 13 & Up), and Pasta Dinner (Age 3-12).

That’s a wrap on another incredible year of the Bird-in-Hand Half Marathon! We cannot thank our running family enough for showing up and running (and picnicking) in community with us. Vella Shpringa! YOU make the event what it is: truly unforgettable. Stay tuned…there’s lots of event photos to come. We already can’t wait for 2027!
