🏰 The Transformation Begins Next Week! 🏰

Next week, the MetraPark Festival Grounds will begin transforming into the Montana Renaissance Festival.

Starting Tuesday, our loyal décor team will arrive to begin the enormous task of turning fairgrounds into a realm of adventure. Banners will be hung, stages prepared, signs raised, decorations placed, and countless details brought together to create the atmosphere our guests have come to love.

Then on Friday, they will be joined by nearly 1,000 vendors, performers, cast members, volunteers, and crew, all working tirelessly to transform the grounds into the largest Renaissance Festival in the region and one of the largest single-weekend festivals in the country.

When guests arrive on June 6–7, they'll see bustling marketplaces, colorful encampments, entertainment around every corner, and a world that feels far removed from everyday life. What many don't see is the incredible amount of work that happens behind the scenes to make that magic possible.

With more than 20,000 attendees last year and even more expected this season, the Montana Renaissance Festival has grown from a small gathering into an event that draws travelers from across the United States and beyond.

In just one week, these grounds will look completely different.

And in just one week, the adventure begins.

🎠 Throwback Thursday to 2018 at the very first home of the Montana Renaissance Festival — the grounds of ZooMontana!

Back when we thought 4,000 people was a HUGE event. 😄⚔️

At the time, we were just thrilled people were showing up in costume, cheering at the joust, and believing in this crazy dream of building a Renaissance Festival in Montana.

Looking back now, it’s amazing to see how far this adventure has come thanks to all of you — the patrons, performers, vendors, volunteers, and supporters who kept helping us grow year after year.

As we prepare to return home to Billings in 2026, 2026 Montana Renaissance Festival these old photos remind us where the journey began.

Huzzah! The word is spreading across the realm! ⚔️👑

The Billings Gazette just shared a feature on the Montana Renaissance Festival’s return to Billings — along with a wonderful mix of memories from our early ZooMontana days and the years that followed. Looking through these photos reminds me just how far this festival has come since 2012.

Just as we once outgrew the Zoo and moved to Red Lodge, we’ve now reached the point where returning to Billings is the right step for the future of the festival. This move gives us room to grow, improve access and parking, and continue building toward the long-term dream of one day creating a permanent Renaissance village here in Montana.

To everyone who has supported us through every chapter of this journey — thank you. The next era of the Montana Renaissance Festival begins June 6–7 at MetraPark. Huzzah!
