There’s a lot more to a film festival than what happens inside the theater.

For Greg Cairns, director of Pronghorn Passage, Lone Peak meant time with other filmmakers, a place to stay, good conversations, guided hikes, room to breathe, and the chance to step away from the usual grind of making a film.

He summed up his experience pretty simply:

“In terms of value to me as a filmmaker, Lone Peak is as good as it gets. A true filmmakers film festival. Retreat, compensation, lodging, networking, space to relax, guided hikes, etc. I have a lot of work to do to get back here with another film next year!”

That’s the kind of festival we want to build—one where filmmakers get to experience the place, meet their people, and actually have a minute to enjoy being here.

Thanks for making the trip, Greg. We’ll be watching for that next film. 🏔️

What a weekend.

Packed screenings. Full rooms. Big conversations. New friendships. Incredible films. And a whole lot of laughter, connection, and stories shared under the Big Sky.

To every filmmaker who traveled here and trusted us with their work: thank you. We loved having you here, hearing your stories, and watching you connect with this community.

To everyone who bought a ticket, came to a screening, asked a question, stayed for a Q&A, brought a friend, or simply showed up—we couldn’t have done it without you.

And to the volunteers, crew, mentors, partners, sponsors, artists, and community members who gave their time, energy, skills, and heart to make this festival happen: this festival belongs to you, too.

Lone Peak exists because people believe that stories matter—and because a community is willing to show up for them.

There’s a lot of knowledge held in a place long before it gets a name on a map.

Join Paulette Fox, Steven Davis, and Jesse Derosier, three Blackfoot teachers, for a conversation and workshop exploring Blackfoot perspectives, practices, and traditional ways of life.

The Blackfoot people’s traditional territory included the Gallatin Valley. This is an opportunity to listen to the people carrying that knowledge forward and learn more about the relationship between culture, place, and community.
