This fish deserves its own post I so happened to be there when he got it. Possibly the biggest bluegill ever iced on camera a true freak. Little over 11.25 and 1.68 lbs. Caught by Brandon Sonsteguard he won biggest sunfish. There might be a few cuss words. Biggest bluegill I’ve ever seen iced.

Dave and some of the anglers leaned on a few today. Long time supporter of not only kop but all tourneys Dave used to host the trap attacks and back in the day they had well over 100 teams at many events. Fun fact. One of the reasons we don’t use trucks was because he got sick of searching peoples vehicles cause they would live in em during events. I’ve been blessed with many stories of the old days and we’re just trying to keep that life alive. Thanks Dave and everyone for the support.

Tournament is still a go boundaries got a little adjusted dealing with a few areas of bad ice and open water. Typical for my luck. Rules meeting is at the Sioux historic center aka (Lakewood supper club) in ortonville mn Saturday at 6. We’ve had a few teams back out because of ice conditions which is perfectly fine with me. Weather is less than ideal but hey why would it go perfectly! Two days away where should we go next year? Gonna be tough to ever top this tourney other than conditions haha. Stay safe kop family.

Here’s the rules been getting lots of questions become familiar with em cause if you break em you gone. I think I will be setting up by Schmidt’s landing for take off and weigh inn. Not 100 sure on that but we will figure that out. Be safe out there today she’s gonna be nasty.

The pictures are starting to roll in of the little bluegills and well some nicer ones. In all seriousness this tourney is going to be talked about forever we have a few spots left but either way this will be the highest paying field ever in existence. We could still use some sponsors for door prizes.

In a few days you’ll get to talk bull gills with Dave Genz! I talked to Dave the other day and he was wondering if people would be upset if he fished Friday and Saturday. I said you got a free pass if they whine I’ll kick em out. What you gonna do if Dave drills a hole by you Friday or Saturday? I’m hoping you drill him a hole and land his fish! Been a rough winter for Dave I’ve got to know him very well thru the years and still my favorite fisherman!

Forecast for these next 5 days look less than ideal. I’m gonna guess some accesses are gonna get messed up and there will be some spots of concern. There is already people up an sounds like a few spots are marked with trees and shrubs. If you a see a spot throw something there. Theres gonna be rain so what happens there is the same thing. Mark em after that it’s a polar plunge Mother Nature just seems to wanna work me for these things, I’ll be up there this weekend checking the lake. I’ll get a map going with areas of concern and keep everyone posted on conditions. Artie’s bait also does a great job at posting ice conditions. If it were me prefishing I’d only run machines stay safe and enjoy the warm weather prefishing!
