BIG BEAR LOCALS SWEEP U.S. NATIONAL STEINHOLDING CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER AT BIG BEAR MAIFEST
Two Big Bear locals give a new definition to Big Bear Strong and are on their way to New York City in September to compete in the Hofbrau Maskrugenstemmen (Steinholding) U.S. National Championships. Tomace Marquez qualified with a time of 9:26 minutes, beating out his closest competitor by over a minute. Kerensa Krininger held for a record time for the women of 7:48 minutes, surpassing the previous Women’s national record of 6:54 minutes set at the 2025 Big Bear Maifest.
The Hofbrau Masskrugenstemmen (Steinholding) U.S. National Championships brings together the top stein holders in the country to compete for an all expense trip to Germany, as well as bragging rights. While Steinholding competitions have been a part of German celebrations both in the U.S. and in Germany for decades, the unique contest is quickly becoming a legitimate sport with competitors training year-round to win the coveted title of U.S. National Champion title.
