Amen
I used to think being available for everybody was a good thing.
Always answering.
Always helping.
Always explaining.
Always giving people access to me.
I thought that made me a good person.
But over time, I realized something…
Some people don’t come to add peace.
They come to consume it.
Some people don’t respect your energy because they’ve never had to earn access to it.
They’ll call when they need something.
Text when they need help.
Show up when they need support.
But disappear when it’s your turn.
And if you’re not careful, you’ll spend so much time pouring into everybody else that you end up empty yourself.
That’s exactly where the enemy wanted me.
Drained.
Distracted.
Emotionally exhausted.
Giving my energy to conversations, situations, and people that had nothing to do with my purpose.
But God taught me something powerful:
Everything deserves love.
Not everything deserves access.
That changed my life.
I stopped explaining myself to people committed to misunderstanding me.
Stopped attending every argument I was invited to.
Stopped feeling guilty for choosing peace.
Because protecting your energy isn’t selfish.
It’s stewardship.
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
You can’t fulfill your purpose while constantly recovering from unnecessary stress.
You can’t hear God’s direction while surrounded by constant noise.
So now I move differently.
Less access.
More boundaries.
Less people-pleasing.
More peace.
Because I’ve learned that every battle doesn’t deserve my attention, every opinion doesn’t deserve my response, and every person doesn’t deserve unlimited access to me.
The devil wanted me entertaining everybody…
But God taught me to protect what He placed inside me 🔋🙏🏾🕊️✨
